REMstar Auto A-Flex

Tomorrow will be my first night on CPAP at home. I have the REMstar Auto Aflex machine with the ResMed MIrage Quattro Mask.

Is this a good machine?

The setting is 10/16, Is this really high or pretty average?

What do I need to know?

Yes, that is an excellent machine. It gives you the option of running in CPAP or APAP; and in APAP you have th option of using c-flex or a-flex or no exhalation relief. (In case you don't already know, those features reduce the pressure when the machine detects you are exhaling, making it easier.)

The Quattro is an excellent mask. Many here use it. It's rare that anyone stays with the first mask they try. Some have gone thru several before finding "the one"! What you need to know now is that masks always leak at first and usually take a week or so of tweaking the adjustments to minimize them. If you cannot tweak out the leaks, that mask may not fit your facial contours and another design is in order. Fixing mask leaks is the first priority for any new CPAPer.

Yeah, 10/16 is pretty "average"...but what works well for YOU is much more important than averages. Once you get mask leaks under control and your results stabilize you may consider tweaking your settings, but that's on down the road.
