The short answer is that the software needed to read the new System One cards is not yet available to patients.

There is a professional version of the software available to sleep clinics and RTs; the problem is that the professional version allows the CPAP pressure to be changed -- the card is read and a new pressure prescription can be written to the card. The CPAP pressure is changed to the new prescription when the card is put back into the CPAP. Respironics does not want to release the ability to change the CPAP pressure using the card to patients. Respironics makes a software program for patients that currently reads Series M and some other cards; Respironics will be releasing a new version of the software with the ability to read System One cards, and it should be compatible with Windows 7.

Thank you so much for the reply's--i got my machine on line as I live in the ding bat toolies and am pretty self sufficiant and wanted to do my own
thing with all this--especially getting off the machine someday. I fought it horribly at first and the machine plumb scared me and was just not
right to be hooked up to at the tender age of 60--hahaha I ordered a machine only to discover they discontinued it so owner of company suggested
the one i have now for price of old one and i took it---i also got clinic manual so do my own adjusting of pressure and love having the control.
The setting they gave me i have not reached yet and since i couldnt monitor with machine i got oximeter and download each day to puter the info
and print it out--sooooooooooo helpful--I called company i bought it from and they werent sure about SD card or how to use it--said the machine
was soo new they didnt have all info-- so i called the company that made the machine and they told me some time in Jan--now i know why from what
you have told me--dont want folks messing with pressure--surprise--real easy to do and i am glad--thanks so much for your respones--i love this
board--

In other words, sign up here it's free. Fill out your profile and someone will pm you and tell you how to get the software. Sometimes you have to read between the lines.

I too would kill to be able to get hold of a copy of the software - I would be happy to pay for it, as it will help me to better understand and refine my treatment.

I agree with the many posts in other threads that we have to take charge of and be ultimately responsible for our own treatment. So I'd be grateful to hear from anyone "in the know".

Thanks.

I also would appreciate any info on the Encore Pro software (or alternatives). I should add I recently purchased a System 1 but haven't added it to my list of equipment yet since until I get the software I will probably continue to use the Autoset as my primary machine.

If this the case will the patient have the ability to change their pressure with
software provided them? Is it possible to change the pressure without the software,
or the card? Or any possible variations there of?

I really like being in control of my own pressure changes.

Yes, you can go through the clinician menu on the machine to change the pressures.

Each machine and manufacturer provide access to the clinician menu in a different way. The easiest way is to get a copy of the clinician manual or card that came with your machine. The DME normally takes that out, but there are places that have them listed. Doing a search on here you can normally find out how to get into the clinician menu. I know I have for the System One CPAP machines.

You should know what you are doing before you arbitrarily adjust the pressure.

Thanks SkepticalOne That such a relief to me I can now purchase Pro One when the software comes out with confidence.

I use Encore software have learned the data that indicates when
I should change pressure and when it is best to stay.

Thanks for your concern about adjusting pressure.

I have had my machine about 3 weeks and really like adjusting it--it is really easy to operate the machine to change pressure and therapy's to find what is right--which i am still working at--need to experiment with a couple more masks--any how i to have the manual the doc usually keeps as i bought mine on line-if anyone needs it let me know--easy to adjust and very informative as to how it is done--cant wait till software gets here and i will post as i hope others will if they get it for this machine---mean time the oximeter really helps--- THANKS TO ALL OF YOU for everything and mostly just being there--it was scary living in ding bat tooleys thinking i was all alone in the world with this -------------thing called not breathing!
