High Presuure Release from Vent Hole Insert on Nasal Pillow

Post by lcp » Sat Dec 26, 2009 4:16 am

Hi,

Has just started using an Auto CPAP machine with a Breeze SleepGear Nasal Pillow. the starting pressure is set at 4 and during the initial stage only the pressure release from the vent hole insert is audible but still considered quietly tolerable, but in the middle of my sleep, the pressure release is becoming very loud and the hizzing sound is causing a nuisance......

Just would like to know if this is normal.

thanks,

cheers.

All masks make noise especially if the vented air hits the sheets, pillow, or an arm. Some masks are quieter than others. You should get used to the sounds over time and sleep right through them.

Yes, that happens to me too. I have a PAPillow and sleep on my side, with my face the edge of it, so the air vents don't hit it. But if I shift, the air will sometimes wake me up. I'm getting used to it, and just go back to sleep, or change sides.

CP,

I'm a longtime Breeze user who has shared your frustration. It's not so much that the exhaust is loud, it's difficult to prevent the exhaust hitting the bed linens and generating a lot of secondary noise. I posted a modification on this forum at viewtopic.php?f=1&t=46853&p=421419&hili ... on#p421419 which may interest you. It certainly solves the problem for me. I also added a cable tie to hold the halo-strap guide in place and a piece of wire to prevent the head-cradle piece from adjusting by itself. With those mods, it's my favorite mask unless I'm traveling, because the Breeze doesn't survive trips very well. If you like the Breeze and are afraid of modifications, the best alternative is the Everest (currently) Headrest, which supposedly shares the same designer as the Breeze and has a lot of fans here. It's my travel mask.

Steve

It would be helpful to know which mask you are referring to. Should be a label on the headgear with the make and model. All masks are not created equal

Also what is the high end pressure set to? 4cm to ??cm oh and the machine make and model should be written right on top of it.
