Tonight is my 1st night with CPAP

Post by BrentyRT » Tue Dec 22, 2009 10:14 pm

I just picked up my new machine today and will sleep with it for the first time tonight, wish me luck.
Any tips or warnings?

Did you try your mask earlier to see if the leaks were eliminated?

Yes, the therapist fitted it for me.

Oh yeah, with members around the world, if you wake up and have questions or need help, post 'em and someone will likely answer soon.

Since I'm up the river from you and in the same time zone, here's hoping you are sound asleep right now and off to a good start.

First of all Welcome to the "World of Hose Worship" welcome to this forum also. If you wake up and can't sleep get out of bed and find something to do. Then when you start getting tired again go back to bed. I have found that if I wake up and can't go back to sleep that seems to help. After awhile you will sleep like a log and wake up feeling like you can do half gainers off the asphalt.
Good Luck and remember the only dumb question is the question that is not asked.

1st night went well, feel somewhat more refreshed than usual. Did not have too much trouble falling asleep woke up 5-6 times.
My "rig" was not as uncomfortable as it looks. Thanks for the support!

That is great! Sounds like you will make an easy transition to cpap. Expect some adjustment issues, but you are off to a great start! Congratulations!

Hey that's great. It's natural to wake up at 1st, it's a new situation for your body. After 2 months, my wake up times are less frequent, since I've got my mask and equipment figured out.

That's a great start to your journey to better health! I had a similar first night of cpap (and it was only last Thursday). Yes, there will be a few adjustments (I'm working on mine), but you will be so amazed at what restful sleep is starting to feel like. You will find this is an excellent website to get information as well as share experiences. Good luck!
