OT Going the distance

Post by carbonman » Sun Dec 20, 2009 4:59 pm

I completed one of my goals for 2009 today.
I wanted to ride Lookout Mt. once a month....whether I needed to or not.
I completed my 12th and final ride up Lookout for 2009.
Chilly 43F but sunny. Cold going back down....really felt good.
Image
I got some pics of the upper switchbacks....it is my favorite part of the ride.
It is the most challenging part of the ride and when you come out of
the switchbacks it's only a mile to the top.
The switchbacks.

Down into the switchbacks.

In the switchbacks.

In the shadows, coming out of the switchbacks. Just like riding in a refrigerator.

It has been a wonderful year of cycling.
Completed my third TripleByPass.....the strongest ride of my life.
Thanks! cpap.
Due to the past 3wks of snow and ice, I will not make my goal of 5K miles.
Will finish with 4.9K and change.
I will beat last years vertical w/215,000'.
Registration for TripleByPass 2010 is Jan. 13th.
Can't wait.

Cpap/cycling are life, the rest is just details.

C-man, can see how important cycling is to you, but don't get too overly concerned with your actual numbers - you know, same thing as being overly concerned with CPAP numbers.

Make sure you take time to enjoy your cycling journey, and feeling good about it, and no biggie if you miss a number short of a cycling goal. I know you will, but I needed to tell you this (to remind myself to enjoy my life journey as well and not to get caught up too much in my numbers.)

Gary, I'm a goal setter and revel in accomplishing those goals.
They motivate me. They feel good when you meet them.
Looking for and stopping to take the pics this past year has
really given me the time to stop and smell the roses.

Point taken. Thanks!

Congrats, Beautiful area to ride in there. I am slowly getting back into riding as I pretty much quit once my son was born. Now he rides with me and I need to work on his endurance.

I always said there wasn't anything better than being outdoors and enjoying and taking in the natural beauty, but their is doing it with your family!

OT Going the distance

great job carbonman! I am shooting for 3K miles next year. You are the inspiration for my perspiration.

Were you wearing that outfit in that weather? Brrrrr.... I have been having a tough time of late trying to ride here in DC - Worked the past four weekends and we sort of had a large snowfall this weekend. I have been in spin class 4x a week pedaling like a madman for 1 hour sessions. It's not cycling, but it's not bad for some exercise.

here's a pic from in front of my house today.

That was for the ride up......I'm a sweat'er.
All my gear was in my jersey pockets.
It was still a chilly ride down.

...yea, that'll put a damper on your riding.
I can't face the trainer so I have been doing my Cyclo-core workouts 3 times a week.
I think I get just as much benefit from them as I do on the trainer.
I've never done a spin class. Maybe I'll check that out.

See you on the road.

Great pictures. It must be cold up there. Keep riding. Out here in the NW the rain never stops me!
