My one year anniversary today!

Post by SheZAAM! » Fri Dec 18, 2009 1:04 pm

...and I have my first cold. Yuck! I may have to drag out the FFM if things don't "clear up" soon.

Anyway, I had my first attempt at sleeping with my mask and machine one year ago today. I started out with the S8 Compact and a FFM. After struggling with feeling like I was sleeping with a football helmet on my face for two weeks, Thanks to what I learned on this board, I went back to my DME and exchanged my FFM for my current mask....and slept like a rock the first night. Then a few weeks after that, I bought a brand new S8 Elite II, humidifier, hose and FFM off Craigslist for $200, the deal of the century! Now I only use my Elite II because of the EPR and save the Compact for traveling.

Thanks to everyone here for their help!!!

Congrats, SheZAAM! A true success story, for sure. Sorry about the cold. I guess you'll have to celebrate with a nice hot bowl of soup!

Congratulations. I'm hitting one year in February (I can't believe it). Sorry to hear that you are celebrating with a cold. Definitely use a neti pot or nasal rinse, it really helps!

You don't have to tell me about the Neti pot. I love mine! But I was sooo plugged up that even the Neti couldn't get through. I tried 3 times. Claritin finally has me feeling normal. It's not just for allergies anymore!

The neti pot is for people who can't handle the squeeze bottle. Get the squeeze bottle.
"The biggest limitation of all Neti Pots is that gravity alone cannot create sufficient pressure to wash away all the undesirable
mucus and nasal irritants. While it may seem to provide some immediate symptomatic relief, long term relief is unlikely
because most of the mucus and associated pathogens remain in place."

The squeeze bottle gets that stuff.

Wars arise from a failure to understand one another's humanness. Instead of summit meetings, why not have families meet for a picnic and get to know each other while the children play together?

Congrats on completing your first year!

You may find (as I did) that colds are milder and shorter duration than before xpap. Feel better soon!
