Encore install problems.

Well, I'm embarrassed. I've basically gone nowhere with this install. I'm installing on winxp home. I've tried installing .net 2.0 and sqlexpress but I'm clearly in over my head. I take really basic directions well. I've read the archives here on and TAS to no avail because I don't really grasp the big picture... just what windows based software must be installed and how BEFORE Encore will install.

I installed Encore but it couldn't find the database. SQL, I guess, and indeed that directory doesn't seem to exist, not is there such a service running. I guess I don't have it.

Anyone up for some rudimentary hand-holding?
