I am seeing the RT today who erased my smart card data
I am seeing the RT today who erased my smart card data, and would the RT have saved my data on her computer by chance and how can it be reloded back onto my smart card, does anyone know if this is possible.
Or is if she has the report on her computer how do I tell her how to make a pdf of this report.
I really like to get this 6 months of data back.

Re: I am seeing the RT today who erased my smart card data
She can only make a .PDF of each download she does. that would contain compliance data, (Worthless) and up to seven days of real data. She can print that to .pdf and save it. Each download could be saved that way. and with the correct .pdf program they can be combined into one Binder. The odd's of her doing this is LOW, it's time consuming and probably beyond her talents and her bosses Ok! Jim

What brand and model CPAP are you using?
I don't know if it will work or not but you could try politely telling her that in the future she is NOT to delete your data UNLESS you are given a FULL PRINTOUT of every bit of data on the card first before the deletion. Remind her that this is YOUR therapy, YOUR data and YOUR medical record AND YOU have a LEGAL RIGHT to full copies of that data as part of your medical record under HIPAA..

Your data is automatically saved in the Encore Pro program on the computer she used when she did the download of your Smart Card. No, she can't reload the data back onto the smart card. But it is sitting there in the computer, and can be pulled back up again and again to view it on the computer.lessismore wrote:I am seeing the RT today who erased my smart card data, and would the RT have saved my data on her computer by chance and how can it be reloded back onto my smart card, does anyone know if this is possible.
Ask her to pull up the report she downloaded to your patient name in Encore Pro. It's still there under your patient name in her Encore Pro program. When Encore Pro asks her what report she wants -- these are the choices she'll see:lessismore wrote:Or is if she has the report on her computer how do I tell her how to make a pdf of this report.
Summary
Trend
Full Details
Tell her to click "Full Details." Tell her not to change anything about the date or range of dates...just click "ok" after she clicks "Full Details."
That will bring your entire downloaded report up in a window called "Report Viewer". Ask her to then click the word "File" at the upper lefthand corner of the "Report Viewer" window in the middle of the screen. Then click Print. That will print your full report for you...it will be approximately 10 to a dozen pages.
It will be easier to ask her to print it than to ask her for a PDF of the report, even though a PDF file of your report could also be generated from menu under "File" in that Report Viewer. I wouldn't ask her for a PDF. Just ask her to print out the Full Details report.
You won't get the 6 months of data back onto the card, but you'll at least have a print out of the entire report for those six months. The "Full Details" report has the entire data from your Smart Card for those six months.lessismore wrote:I really like to get this 6 months of data back.

What I did was print out the report and take that to them instead of letting them touch my card. Of course, that only works if you have the software and reader yourself.

Re: I am seeing the RT today who erased my smart card data
I just went to http://www.mycpap.org to download their CPAP utility.
Many thanks to someone here who mentioned this yesterday. Now, whether it's me or my DME rep erasing my data, I have a backup.
Thanks for the tip,
Tony

Re: I am seeing the RT today who erased my smart card data
The data is supposed to be portable according to HIPAA law, right? You can ask the RT to "Export" the entire file from Encore Pro (under the "File" menu).
Six months of data will easily fit on a floppy (remember those things?)(edited: NOPE too big, my bad--use a flash drive instead)
or they can simply email the XML file to you. The XML file can be imported into your copy of Encore Pro. This would provide access to each 'interaction' or download that the RT did with your card. If I'm not mistaken, each interaction contains the 7 most recent 'sessions' on the card (versus the last 7 days).
The full details report does give you the summary data sheets and compliance for the 6 months you're looking for, however only the detail nightly graphs (real-time apnea tick marks, leak graph, etc) for the last 7 sessions would be printed using this approach.
(Beware that Encore Pro seems to round up the AI and HI numbers--use the AHI number on the detail reports or Skinner's Encore Pro Analyzer for accuracy).
If it were me, I'd also backup the card each day with the MYCPAP.ORG utility before loading it into Encore Pro or giving to the RT. Encore actually writes some information to the card when it 'reads' it. I was having data drops about once a month until I adopted this discipline. (Also, when going quickly from the utility to Encore I get an error message if I don't reinsert the card).
Good luck.

Re: I am seeing the RT today who erased my smart card data
I have seen two types of data that EncorePro writes to the SmartCard:Encore actually writes some information to the card when it 'reads' it.
1) Personal data (Patient First Name and Patient Last Name) which is written when it initializes a smartcard, and
2) RX data entered via EP with the SmartCard delivery option checked.
Do you know of any other data that EP writes to the Smartcard?

OT:
That's a good question for Skinner. I'd love to know more myself. Comparing the XML file from the card before and after might reveal the exact changes to the user data. I'm sure there are also some smart card internal stuff that is also being written.
The Mycpap.org utility is the only software I know of that can actually reach the proprietary card directly. Perhaps the author would part with the code or format secrets.
Btw: Is the PR1 SD Card data encrypted also or just a funky data format? Do you have the new software?

Re: I am seeing the RT today who erased my smart card data
James Skinner's EncorePro Analyzer (EPA) program gets the data to produce its trending reports from a few of the EncorePro (EP) tables stored in an EP SQL database. EPA does not get data directly from the SmartCard.
The XML Patient file exported from EncorePro is sourced entirely from the EP SQL database. A before and after XML exported file comparison will show you what changes have taken place in the EP SQL tables as a result of a SmartCard download. How the EP SQL table data relates back to the data format of the SmartCard is what the MyCPAP card utility author discovered after months and months of skilled and relentless 'hacking" efforts.
EncorePro and the MyCPAP card utility can read the data on the Respironics SmartCard. The Respironics SmartCard data format is proprietary as is the new PR-1 SD card data format. Deciphering proprietary formats is challenging and time-consuming as there is no easy way.
Even if the data format is known, it is exceedingly difficult to determine, for example, how the SmartCard data is precisely managed by our Respironics machines. Discovering, for example, how Respironics allocates and manages its two data buffers when storing x number of sleep sessions on a SmartCard is turning out to be a challenge.
When you discover something helpful in this arena, please post your findings. Thanks.
