Until a few months ago I had been successfully using my Comfort Lite 2 mask with CVS brand sports tape. I was sleeping through the night and all was wonderful. A few months ago I tried the Oracle HC452 Oral CPAP Mask for a few nights. With the Oracle I changed my APAP min/max pressures and cranked up the humidity. Having switched back to the Comfort Lite 2 after only two nights on the Oracle, I'm having a major mouth tape problem after changing my APAP pressures and humidity back to the pre-Oracle settings.
After about 4-hours I now have a major leak as the bottom half of the tape strip is sopping wet (drool?) and completely loses its stick. I've even switched to 3M duct tape to get more sticking power but the result is the same.
Any ideas what could be causing this and how I might fix it?
Mouth tape not sticking
Re: Mouth tape not sticking
Yep! What's causing it is drooling.
The fix is to roll your lips inward and press them together before you apply the tape. (Make a "granny face" and hold your lips together with your teeth, then apply tape.) Your lips will provide a seal, keeping the saliva in...and the tape will stick better to the skin around your mouth rather than your lips.
