Just wondering if this is normal or if I should call and complain....ummm, I mean inquire. lol
I had my sleep study on 10/20 and rec'd my machine on 10/29. I have never gotten a call from the sleep doctor's office inquiring how I'm doing, do I have any questions, how's the machine, am I using the scan card thingie .......or anything. Is this normal?
I do have another office visit, but that's not until 12/16. What if I was doing something wrong all of this time. My apnea is severe (55 per hour) and I'm kinda irritated that no one has checked on me! My blood pressure was VERY high at my initial consultation.
Can anyone relate?

Never heard from my sleep dr either, until my follow up appointment. So I can relate. You will get better advise and more help from this site anyway.

It is very normal, unfortunately, not to hear anything back - the MD's assume the DME has taken care of everything (pathetic, isn't it!) so they don't have to bother. Do you have any problems or questions, because this forum is a great place to ask.

Yep....it's normal. If you want to hear from them...you must place the phone call.

I've been on the HOSE for 131 days. I have never spoke with my sleep Dr. I have never even seen him. I got my prescription and was setup with a DME through my insurance, UHC. Unlike a lot of people I have good luck with my DME. I don't know if I'll ever speak with the DR. I can get all my questions and problems answered here. I have my own card reader and software so I know what is happening, so the Dr. is immaterial!

Hi Sheep1234,
Great name! I also didn't hear from my sleep doctor. I learned from this forum how important it is to follow my own numbers, so I convinced the DME company to program my machine so that I can now check my numbers ever day. I'm plotting them. Eventually I'll buy a reader that will plot the numbers for me. When I found that after a few weeks where I actually was able to relax enough to dream, my AHIs went up to around 20. At that point I called and made an appointment with my sleep doctor. I asked to him have my flow raised slightly, and he was willing. He told me that usually he waits three months to see patients, because getting used to the whole cpap mask/machine/tube/humidifier/pillow/face connection takes time. At that point he then starts to adjust flow according to the person's numbers and how they feel.
However, I need the positive feedback of my numbers to keep me going through this "getting used to" phase. I'm barely out of walking dead phase (just started 10/24/09) and getting into basic treatment phase. wiki/index.php/CPAP_Newbie#Seven_Stages_of_CPAP I'm somewhere between frustration and immersion. I want to feel as good as possible as soon as possible, so I don't want to wait three months for the first adjustment.
I find this forum to be very helpful. Keep asking questions!
