New user from Greece
This time it's my turn to say hello to everyone on this very important forum. Twice important for me since (to my surprise) i didn't find anything similar existing to my country (i live at Athens, Greece)! I found the forum and read a lot immediately after i finally decided to have the Hospital sleep test in early August which resulted in 50 (!) apneas per hour and a really shocked doctor (beside myself,of course ). Strange thing is that i didn't had any particular feeling of beeing tired or wanting to sleep in every occasion.... I am (or was) suffering from mild arythmiae which at times went completely out of control and provoced 3 severe fibrillations in the past 5 years and afer the last one on last April my cardiologist suggested to check my sleep condition (after having a lot of tests i was proved to be lucky enough not to have any heart problems at all)
After the double sleep test i immediately started my therapy like all of you and was lucky to begin this saga during my 20 days of summer vacations so i passed all the first "suffering" days/weeks without having to wake up next morning and go to work.
Well...what can i say....THIS CPAP THING SEEMS TO HAVE SAVED MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!! For me it's the biggest invention after the wheel!
Fortunately i was abituated to this new way of sleeping relatively fast and i was very happy to hear my doctor saying after 3 weeks of therapy that i was doing really nice (AHI down to 5.3). In fact i barely sense those arrythmiae any more and i prove only some extra pulses which occur rarely.
Well, thanks for reading this short description. I will certainly continue to indulge through this wonderfull forum and i just hope that are several other Greek people out here that are aware of the problem and it's severity. Kalimera..

Hello & Welcome, Stathis! Glad you found this forum—SO much useful info and everyone here is so willing to help!
You're lucky to have found this forum as you begin CPAP—took me almost year before I found this place and, with the help of folks here, got my CPAP therapy working as it should. It does take time to get everything tweaked and working at its best, so patience is key as one begins CPAP.

I really know what you mean. I was so bad off before I started CPAP that I was out of options. I couldn't work, and I was getting too dangerous to drive. That little machine has made all the difference in world for me. I am glad that you are doing well and that you are sticking with it. Please help spread the word and tell everyone in your part of the world about the dangers of OSA and how to get treated.

Welcome. I had what the docs called a benign arrythmia and they offered no cause for it. Since starting CPAP the arrythmia disappeared.Stathis wrote: .......In fact i barely sense those arrythmiae any more and i prove only some extra pulses which occur rarely.
.........
In the last few years, many doctors have started to learn that the source of arrythmia is often untreated sleep apnea.
