Remstar model 1005960 vs 1005961

Post by leftie12 » Thu Nov 05, 2009 9:52 am

I currently have a Remstar Pro w/C-flex model #1005961. I see a lot of model #1005960's on the auction and was curious if someone knew what the differences are in these 2 machines?

Thanks!
Tony

There are a whole bunch of model numbers that they used for the "Pro" machines. Two of the old service manuals I have a list of model numbers which apply to those manuals......both mention the 1005961 but not the 1005960.

Neither one has full data-recording capabilities like the Pro 2 does. Does the one on the auction mention whether it has C-Flex or not?

Sorry, but I can't tell you what the difference(s) is/are.

Yes, the 5960 has c-flex. I have been very happy with my old machine, but it has over 14000 hours on it and starting to give me problems when I go on a trip.

Would you recommend staying with that model since it has been so good? Or upgrade to something else? I don't have a clue!

Those models get really good reviews here. I've recently acquired two "tanks" as they are called, and use them exclusively now. My M Series Auto has been retired to travelling, and auto-titration as needed.

I say, stick with the tank, since it's working for you. Do look for a Pro2, or Auto, if you can find one, for data. But settle for whatever you can get.

I got one at a thrift store, and another one on Craigslist.org. I'd recommend shopping there, too.

Cheers,
Barbara

I am in Africa and need to change the filter on my Remstarpro model: 1005961 and can not open the case to get to the filter. I am worried about breaking the machine and I would not be able to replace here. Please help.

You should not have to open the case (take it apart).
There should be a filter cap on the (lower) back of your machine......which you just pull off and then remove the filter(s) from the rectangular opening.

The back of the machine with the filter cap removed:

The filter cap may look like this one:
