PulseOx 7500 from Turner Medical

Post by upforsleep » Thu Oct 29, 2009 5:27 pm

Same day shipping at discounted price with UPS Tracking.
Delivered on time new in the box double packaged for shipping.
Easy setup with included CD that runs on Vista. I have Vista 32 Business and Vista 64 Home Premium. Vista 32 installation found drivers and installed them, Vista 64 ran with the drivers from the CD. The CD version is B:2.003.
User guides are found on the CD in PDF for the meter and software. Very simple to lean by trial.
I am very happy with the meter and this purchase from Turner Medical.

My first study was during nap time without Cpap. I wanted to see what they were seeing in ICU that indicated I needed a sleep study for Apnea.
During the three hour nap I had 113 DeSats The longest continuous period was 4.2 min just before I woke up.
Second study was last night with straight CPAP set at 12. Slept about five hours and DeSats reported were 67 and most were at a higher %O2.
As with the first nap study it appeared I had a major event right before I woke.
Third study was today again at nap time. I reset the pressure to 14 with CPAP and had 0 DeSats during another three hour period.

The Pulse recording is also important. I noticed I was tired all day until after my nap. This is normal for me and that's why I don't fight the urge to do it. I wore the meter while awake today and noticed my pulse rate was over 100 and only after the nap with CPAP did it stay down to a normal range of around 60. When I took out the trash this morning my pulse ran up to 120, I felt very tired as if I were on an Exercise Bike and had to rest afterward.
I am looking forward to a good nights sleep tonight on the higher setting and hoping for a better pulse rate tomorrow. I hope that my naps get shorter and nights get longer without feeling so tried during the day.

Hi Upforsleep

Very interesting post, thanks for sharing it.

Experimentation is really the only way for us to be sure what is right for us, but the main thing is to feel alive and alert.

Hope you get there soon.

cheers

Interesting about your high daytime pulse, Upforsleep. A couple years ago I had a really bad asthma attack that sent me to the hospital. Since then, my daytime pulse is always around a 100, sometimes as high as 130 or more. (It was 60-70s before the asthma attack.) My docs have done all sorts of tests and can find no cause for the tachycardia. There hasn't been any improvement in my daytime pulse even though I've been on xPAP for almost five months now. (I'm still keeping my fingers crossed, though!) I too have an SPO7500 and it shows that at night, my pulse is much lower and dips into the 50s. Even though my daytime pulse is high, my blood pressure is consistently normal. I've read posts by a couple others here who've said they had high pulse rates prior to CPAP.

Do keep us posted on your progress.

No afib reported from my Cardiologist.
Had a good night last night. Did have some DeSats again just before waking but they we in the above 88% range. As I woke I was having some mask adjustment problems from tossing. Pulse rate is normal around 60 today and I feel more rested and less tired. I am even doing some housework that I have put off too long.
I was recently measured for a mask and my DME discovered that I needed the Medium size mask instead of the large reported by my sleep lab. With the new Medium I am able to have a higher pressure with no leaks. Setting of 14 is no problem with the full face Medium. With the Large the leakage was blowing raspberries on my cheeks. They have templates so everyone please get fitted properly.
I have to tackle one issue at a time to track progress and I am happy to have the mask problem solved first. Second step for me was DeSat studies. Not sure yet but next may be an Auto machine.
Thanks to all of you on this forum and CPAP for hosting. I am new and experimenting but hoping in the years to come I will have some valuable knowledge to share like so many members here. I like reading the post from other newbies as it helps me gather so much info from replies. So jump in, other newbies, after all this is a user friendly forum and we are all friends and Brothers in Arms against OSA.
Everyone feel free to send me questions and suggestions by PM if you like.

Upforsleep.......

My compliments on good reporting work....and your "git-r-done" attitude.

Please post the "written" version that describes all of your equipment. We can do more for you if we know exactly what you're running.

Also, if you have not done so, be sure that your CPAP machine is "Full Data" capable......with software you've purchased that will allow you to survey your progress every night.

You've got it going your way!

Gerald

Gerald,
The only equipment I have that is not yet listed in my profile is a comfort gel nasal mask and I will update.
My thoughts on getting an auto machine;
I like the new RemStar. While waiting for solutions to come for the software (2.1 Pro) I had a vendor tell me that ResMed is bringing out a new unit soon and I should wait to compare. Now that I can't easily get software for any machine I am holding off on that decision. Until I learn more; If I can tolerate a continuous pressure that is high enough to eliminate DeSats above 90% I am good. If not, then an auto will allow me to have lower pressure until I need it to respond is my train of thought at this time. My goal is to have 0 DeSats and a decent pulse rate to reduce the stress on my heart. I am in a position to purchase whatever I need, just not sure what that will be yet. Hopefully not a SV machine.
BTW, I suppose I should not post a vendor's recommendations because you never know what motivates them.
We on the forum are motivated to the same cause of better results and seeing that others get them gives us hope. Without hope most of us would have given up on CPAP before we even found a suitable mask.
Thanks to all again.

You can have a pulse oximeter delivered to your door for $153, versus the PulseOx 7500 for $409 plus shipping.

See viewtopic/t46244/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=42 ... 80#p398006
for my review.

I have no financial interest, just a satisfied customer. The less expensive unit is not a wristwatch type, so the fingertip part is heavier. That doesn't bother me, but YMMV.

Thanks Silver Pelt, good link for those who are still shopping.
I took advantage of the sale price of 350 and free shipping. I think I could be satisfied with a cheaper meter I just wanted a wrist model and this is not the only wrist model; there are more out there to consider.

My considerations,
Medically approved device, like blood pressure kits, diabetic meters, etc.
Recording software with easy to understand reports.
No long wires to a stationary unit, already have the hose to deal with.
Finger tip comfort. Although I believe one can adjust to most any type out there. (Based on the clip on I was given in ICU....I slept well with it.)

I think the one you have would work for me easily and those looking to purchase a new meter should consider it.
