The Joys of a New Puppy

Post by mdintx » Wed Oct 28, 2009 7:02 pm

So I posted earlier today about ordering a Mirage Activa. I also ordered a new hose so my current one could go to back up duty. How timely was this? Well, our new puppy cleared the gate and chewed up a bunch of stuff including the end of my hose and parts of my UMFF. Fortunately, I've got a Swift LT and I hope that electrical tape will salvage the hose for the night!

OMG, we babysit my son's heeler. It doesn't take much for those things to become bored! I love those dogs.

Quite a few of that breed in my area, too.

Your post caught my attention because we, too have a new puppy. He's absolutely adorable and we love him to death, but he can be a major pain in the butt. Two weeks ago he ate the internet cable at the wall where it comes into the house. (So now we have Verizon instead of Comcast.) Last week he ate DH's trifocals. This week he flooded the bathroom by dropping his toys in the toilet. Tennis balls that are partially chewed up neither float nor flush. The plumber cost $500!

Ruby Vee,

We're having a pretty similar experience. I present to you, La Diabla! aka Penny:

Incidentally, my electrical tape fix didn't work. Within a few minutes, I had a burning sensation in my nose and decided to go a night without the hose. I focused on side sleeping since my apnea are entirely positional. Oddly enough, I feel better today than the last 3 days wearing my UMFF (which after further inspection of the damage, is a goner).

Little devil indeed! My brother has a blue heeler and he herds you everywhere -- up the stairs, down the stairs. If a group of us are standing in a room, he nervously paces around us until we unknowingly are gathered into a tight little group so he can continue herding us... he herds the poor cats (which is a hoot to watch!). He's an indcredibly smart boy!

Congrats on your new baby !

OMG are you in for it. Our almost 13 yo red heeler still hasn't slowed down much. I have NEVER seen such a high energy dog in my life. As our Vet puts it, they are enthusiastic. Good luck with the heeler.

She's gorgeous. Ours has the dreaded blue eyes. I've read that the blue eyed ones are put down in Australia due to possible weak vision and hearing. Fortunately, Miss Skye didn't get the weaknesses. I am amazed at her intelligence.

All heelers have that white spot on their fore head.

Great looking pup.
