PR System One - Resistance Control

Post by shambharwani » Mon Oct 26, 2009 11:25 am

I just received my APAP machine. A marvelous piece of machinery but Respironics seem to have made quiet a few blunders (no backlight, no software, irritating beep on auto on which is disturbing in the wee hours to you and yr partner, no daily display of data (only 7/30 day averages)......

But the point I want to ask is the System One Resistance Setting for Profile Lite Nasal Mask. It doesn't seem to be printed on any of the literature which came with the mask and I couldn't find it on their website or via a google search. I also purchased an Ultra Mirage Full Face mask and wanted the System One Resistance Setting for that too.

Could anyone provide the link or the info.

Thanks.
Sham

I also have been looking for a list of the masks and their Resistance Control Number.

There is a setting to have the LCD light come on. It is in the "provider" setup mode... "LCD backlight" - ON or OFF.

PR has not rolled out the mask resistance numbers yet. When they do, it will only be for there masks. I doubt they will provide a setting for other manufactures.

I'm not trying to be mean at all about this, but I would like to discuss this more because its one of my bigger frustrations with the machine...

I'm 90% sure that it actually says "LED Backlight" not "LCD Backlight" and that it really only changes whether the humidity wheel lights stay on or off through the night. I have experimented quite a bit trying to get the screen to light up in some way and I have had no luck actually getting the screen to light up. I have noticed that if I adjust the setting withing the Provider setup, it also toggles it on the user setup.

I would love it if I'm wrong on this, so can someone please confirm that they have actually gotten their screen to light up. (not just seen the option in the menu and assumed it lights up the screen) If so, how did you do it? If it is possible, I might have a defective machine...

Thanks.

Hi Blake...the backlight control only refers to the backlight of the humidifier number lights. If you toggle the backlight "on", the humidifier numbers stay on (brightly, I might add) full time. If it's toggled "off", then the numbers come on briefly when you start therapy and then dim out.

Mine was "mistakenly" delivered with the provider's set up instructions

I am with you...I really would have liked to be able to actually SEE the screen without a flashlight. However, I think this was one of their "improvements"; something about an "evil blue light" on the earlier machines.

Followup on my post -
I requested the info from Respironics and they said the setting for the Profile Lite Nasal Mask is X1 (for the Ultra Mirage being a Resmed product they claim not to have the settings)
