Remstar Error 23 $325 to fix...help?

Post by leftie12 » Mon Oct 26, 2009 9:46 am

I am a newbie. I found the site looking for info on the Error 23 code that I have been getting any time that I unplug my machine to travel and then plug it back in. So far I have been able to get my machine to start back up, but I have been told my blower is going bad and it will be need to be sent in and a new blower installed for $225. They will also check the board for another $100. The machine will be gone for 3 weeks and 1 month of rental is $131.82.

I own my machine, have had it for over 5 years. My wife lost her job and with it went our health insurance. I'm looking for CHEAP fixes or free ideas! Thanks in advance for any advice!

Don't know exactly which machine you have, but if it's the REMstar Plus w/C-Flex (the only Plus with error codes listed in the manual), here is what that manual shows:

E-23 - Pressure Offset - Check for leaks or kinked internal tubing - Replace Main PCA

You can find many similar or better machines listed here in the auction site. Another place to check would be Craig's List.

Den
(5) REMstar Autos w/C-Flex & (6) REMstar Pro 2 CPAPs w/C-Flex - Pressure Setting = 14 cm.
"Passover" Humidification - ResMed Ultra Mirage FF - Encore Pro w/Card Reader & MyEncore software - Chiroflow pillow

With those kind of repair and checkup costs, I would take the money saved by not repairing my old (5 years is old) machine and buy a new one online at CPAP.COM. Buy one, either CPAP or APAP, that provides full data capability (one that displays/records/reports AHI, leaks, pressures, ...). I bought my APAP (w/o a humidifier) in early April for $526 including S&H. I noticed that CPAP.COM now has it for less than $500. Good luck in your continued CPAP journey - I'm a Newbie user as I just started my 7th month with CPAP.

Thanks so much! The auction looks like it will be a HUGE help! I am getting my prescription as I type and I see a couple of machines just like mine on the auction with low hours. I may just go that way for now. My machine has over 14000 hours on it and it has been flawless until this problem!

Awesome site--I have a lot to learn before I buy something other than what I am familiar with, but I am starting the journey!
