RESMED DC 12 Converter

Post by verytiredtoo » Sun Oct 25, 2009 1:41 pm

I want to check out my DC12 Converter prior to a sailing trip I am taking. I can't understand if my car can be running when I plug in the converter. I will be using this with my Resmed S8 elite no humidifier. This is only a test as the boat will have 12 v outlets for my use later. Thanks for the help.

Maybe I should clarify my question. Does the car need to be running for the power to start up my s8 elite? I read in the instructions not to start the car while everything is connected but It is not clear if the car must be running. I have tried it withiout starting the car and it doesn't seem to work . I am just afraid of damaging something.
Thanks.

verytiredtoo,

Car doesn't need to be running when you try out the converter. Is there another power outlet in the car? The ignition switch is controlling the power to the outlet. When the key is off the power is off to the outlet. Try turning the key to the on position, don't start the car, and then plug in the unit. It should work. My GM cars have power to the outlets all the time but the oulet in my Jeep is controlled by the ignition switch.

Happy it worked for you.

I have experienced power outages of a week or more during ice storms. The deep cycle battery is always charged and ready at my house.

Have a great trip!
