SPO 7500 and Windows 7 ... 64 bit Software

Post by janp » Thu Oct 22, 2009 9:40 pm

We've been in touch with an engineer in Netherlands that is involved in the Vitascore software.

He's advised that version 1.5 ... for Windows 7 (32 bit) has been released. Not yet for 64 bit.

According to him, we need to petition SPO Medical for the 64 bit version.

So if you plan on going to Windows 7, 64 bit ... please contact SPO Medical to let them know you need the updated version. Don't be put off by being told that they don't have anything to do with the software ... they do. Temec (in the Netherlands) writes the software for the SPO 7500.

The following is their website for the SPO 7500 Vitascore: http://www.temec.com/portal/faq (Vitascore>General>Drivers).

The following is my husband's emails to the engineer ... with his responses. He still hasn't given us directions to the FTDI site he referenced.

Thank you for the up-date.

So that I can advise others that would be interested in the new release ... please advise a specific URL where the new version can be downloaded (I'm not familiar with the FTDI site that you've referenced).

I am currently running the Vista 64 bit version without any problems.

I will in fact attempt to petition SPO for a Win 7/64 bit version.

Regards,

John Przypek

In the mean time you could use the current software, and install the 64bits drivers for USB port manually, they can be downloaded from the FTDI site, and I could provide you with a link, however we do not officialy support 64bits untill the next release.

Just a bump so that anyone going to Windows 7/64 bit ... using the SPO 7500 ... will see that we need to let SPO Medical know that a 64 bit version of Vitascore is wanted.

Thanks.

Do you think he means that you can get the drivers for the USB port from:

http://www.ftdichip.com/FTDrivers.htm

Is the only issue that the software does not install the 64 bit drivers automatically?

Note: I do not use this software or hardware, but I have experience running 32 bit software of 64 bit Windows and Mac machines and/or virtual machines.

Llama,

Thank's for the research ...but I don't think it is the site that Maarten was referring to.

There is no heading there for Windows 7.

I bet that the Vista x64 drivers work.
