Alarm Issues!
Alarm Issues!
This might be a little long so forgive me in advance...I posted a few weeks ago telling you about my BiPAP keeping me awake beeping. (And Den was nice enough to email me a copy of the user manual for my model). It stopped for a while then started back. I finally saw that it was a Low Level alarm with the A/C light flashing. There was nothing in my manual about that or what to do so I reported it to my home care provider & they came out & replaced the machine Monday. After the person left I realized she had taken the connector for my humidifier with her. I called & she said she'd send me a new 1. For 2 nights I slept, without my humidifier, but without problems. Yesterday my new connector got here. Hooked it up last night & about 4:30 AM I get woke with beeping AGAIN. I check, & it's a High Level Alert this time with the cm H2O icon flashing which meant "Excessive leak or blockage; malfunctioning unit." I couldn't find any leaks tho. I hit the reset button, tightened my mask just in case & went back to sleep. 3 hours later SAME THING. Again, I check things but find nothing. Again I tighten my mask (I thought I felt a small puff of air in my eye right before the alarm) more & go back to sleep. I napped on & off a few more hours (I was paranoid, listening for beeps or other weird sounds) but never heard anything else. Anyone have any idea what the problem might be? Maybe my mask was leaking after all? Or the new connector for my humidifier? Surely if it were another bad machine it would have went hinky before the 3rd night? I really don't want have to call my provider for a 3rd time this week!

Re: Alarm Issues!
I don't know about your machine, but generally 'low level alarms' in complex equipment is referring to a hardware problem-- power supplies, the microcontroller, a sensor failure, and the like. Problems like this nearly always require service, and that is why they replaced your machine with few questions asked. A 'high level alarm' is usually (but not always) something related to the end function of the device-- in this case, excessive mask leakage. Not really a malfunction of the machine, but a problem condition nonethe less. Work with your mask a little more and see if the problem returns.
