I got the Flu....

Post by TheDreamer » Sun Oct 18, 2009 1:47 pm

I don't know if its the H1N1....of course, they just assume that if you have the flu, its the H1N1 now. Though they haven't ruled out that I shouldn't get the H1N1 shot when it comes available.

Though I did get the seasonal flu shot 4 weeks ago....

So, I basically have all the symptoms, except the high fever....but then they go and add that not everybody that get's H1N1 has the fever, or a fever. So, how can they tell I have it if they won't bother testing for it? They say I can't come back to work until I don't have a fever anymore...though having trouble staying upright and other stuff. So, I haven't been out of my home in a while....and it might be a day or two more at least.

Anyways, at first it forced me to use the fulllife mask, even though I had been thinking of taking it back.....while I don't have an open sore on my nose bridge...my nose is sore, and its more like a bruise. I've basically been sleeping really long hours and doing not much of anything else....

Nasal rinsing has helped, so while I'm not ready to go back to using nasal pillows...I have been using a nasal mask the last couple of nights...and surviving better than I did the first long sleep I did with the fulllife and the onset.... It was pretty rough using the nasal pillows the nights before the full onset of all symptoms.

Guess, I know that I do need an FFM. So, I guess it'll hopefully be off to work with RT on finding something that better soon.

The Dreamer.

Ugh.... So sorry the flu got you.

If it is H1N1, then you shouldn't need the shot. Why don't they test for it? Seems odd to me.

I'll get my flu shot when I see my rheumatologist on Tuesday, and I intend to ask him about the H1N1. Taking Prednisone, I'm not supposed to be injected with live viruses, so I want more details on H1N1 before I go for it.

Take good care, and I hope this flu blows over soon for you!

if theres lots of mucus it may be easier sleeping in a comfortable armchair

sore on nose suggests mask needs to be a bigger size or needs to be worn higher up on face

Thanks cflame, I heard the H1N1 is actually *two* shots some days apart. Is that true?

H1N1 or not, the flu is a bear. Hopefully you're over the hump and improvement will begin soon.

For most people, H1N1 is no worse than the "garden variety" flu. Doctors and the CDC even doubt that it is brand new. With all the hype, this exact type may well have been around for a longer time than anyone thinks. Normal flu precautions are in order, and you need to take care of yourself.

It is early in the season for any flu at all. It's not bad until you stop breathing.

I had the flu H1N1 ( suspected, not confirmed ) Monday thru Saturday, had the seasonal flu shot 3 weeks ago. My doctor did prescribe Tamiflu for me on Wednesday, and that seamed to help. It was like some of the seasonal flu's, except it was like having the worst sinus infection, a migraine headache, bronchitis, and strep all at the same time, oh, and throw in an ear infection to boot. Highest fever was 102.5.

I didn't think I was going to be able to use my nasal mask, but, thru the constant consumption of Nyquil, I was able to breath thru my nose, and continue to use the cpap, all but three of those nights. I did leave the chin strap off, incase I felt the need to cough, or breath thru my mouth in a emergency, if my sinuses got to congested to breath thru. I'm only on about my 3rd week of cpap therapy, and i was concerned prior to this what would happen when I got sick the first time. I guess I know now. I did find it easier on the worst nights to sit up in a reclining chair. On the worst night, Wednesday, I almost gave up on the cpap, and slept with out it, but I guess I have gotten so used to it being there, that I couldn’t relax enough to sleep until I put it back on.
I work in a hospital, and was cleared to return to work tomorrow, since no fever for the last 24 hours.

The Mercury in it is suppose to kill all the gearms and a few million brain and nerve cells. Jim

From now on it all called H1N1, we have lots of doses to sell, we have to turn the economy around, one drug company at a time.

Hmmm. I'm old enough to have some immunity to H1N1, so I was considering skipping it and just getting the seasonal flu shot. But ... I take Prednisone and Imuran, plus I have Crohn's and severe asthma. I guess I'll have to see what the doc says.

I already eat a lot of fish and particularly too much tuna, so I don't really need any additional mercury in my system!
