Data Collection?

Post by rbrown3rd » Mon Oct 05, 2009 5:31 am

My machine is pretty new. I have only had it going on three weeks now. My gear is paid for by Medicare and my supplemental insurance. At this stage my provider has a cellular attachment that transmits data to their office. I think it has to do with some Medicare requirements to verify usage during this initial period of use. I also have a data card that goes in the same slot where the present cellular modem is located. I come from a scientific and engineering background so I am very interested in monitoring my own sleep using the data card. I read on this forum people reporting various parameters that they use to measure the quality of their sleep. It is my understanding that when the initial verification is over I can then insert my data card to collect my own data. Is there software for doing this? Can anyone point me to a "how to do it?"

Welcome to the forums.

You may be able to start collecting your own data now.

You will need a ResScan card reader: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -cpap.html

and

The ResScan software. This is, unfortunately unavailable to purchase in the states, but you can still purchase it via: http://www.cpapaustralia.com.au/shoppin ... 31305.html

Depending on when data is transmitted to your provider, you should be able to disconnect the cellular link, put your data card in your machine, wait for the data to download and then remove your card and replace the cellular uplink. Then you can transfer the data to the resscan software on your computer.

Note the ResScan software and card reader are specific to ResMed devices and if you think there is a chance you might switch machines you should stay in the ResMed family or you may end up needing to purchase different software and card reader.

Hope this helps.

You can still obtain the ResScan 3.7 software in the USA. If you decide you want it, send me a private message and I can point you to a source or two.
