My nose hurts!

Post by coyote5314 » Sat Oct 03, 2009 7:36 pm

I've been using a Mirage full face mask that just would't seal right. So my DME introduced me to a mirage liberty full face mask. Setting in the chair it works beautiful. However, after sleeping for about 1-3 hrs my nose is VERY irritated. I'm talking about the skin around the outside of my nostril. It's a burning sensation like a pimple. After I take of the mask for awhile it goes away. I thought about maybe some vasaline. My pressures are 12-19 on my bpap machine. Could it be that the pressures are too high to use the pillows? Also, my mouth gets extremely dry, even after adjusting the humidity. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do not use Vaseline! Some options would be lanolin (yes, the nipple grease) or Ayr nasal gel.

a full face mask shouldnt contact the bottom of nose so move it slightly down on face

the nasal pillows type mask does contact bottom of nostrikls so irritation for a while is normal, vaseline is supposed to damage the soft clear part of the mask
