so my machine flies...

Post by Eric_M » Sat Oct 03, 2009 6:42 pm

Wow...

I am always early to bed... we are on a not so typical sleep schedule. Anyways, Alittle while ago, I have some serious REM going.... someone knocks at the door... dog starts barking... scared the hell out of me... I jump straight up in bed...hose pulls the machine off the little tv dinner stand it sits on next to the bed and crashes to the floor upside down. Opppps! time to belt that sucker on!

no damage... just wide awake now

Just strap the machine to your chest with velcro... that way the only thing that comes flying is the electric cord out of the wall socket.

it helps to firmly tie the airhose to the bedhead so any tugging on the mask end wont be able to pull the CPAP, this also avoids the weight of the hose tugging on the mask
a problem can be rolling in sleep, wrapping hose around neck until CPAP is pulled off bedside table, etc

Machine is best on the floor with something under it to keep it from sucking in rug dust bunnies....

Or at the very least on a STURDY stand slightly below bed level. Hose needs to be attached to something (whatever you like, sheets, wall, etc so when you jump the machine is not tugged.

A xPAP back pack set up clips the wings of flying machines of abrupt REM interruptions by invasions!!!!
