Its hard enough wearing a mask, then to wake up with water dripping out, is scarey....lol
I have been on the resperonics machine over a year. I am one that it just don't help a whole lot. I wrote on here how I was taping my mouth shut ( I learned on here) and I woke up and coughed and about blew my ears out! lololol I hated taping my mouth, but alas I am a mouth breather. My doctor thought I was crazy, but I couldn't do the chin thing, I leaked air still.
OK so someone here told me about the mouth mask...I got the "Mirage Liberty"....I am getting use to it and it works better for me altho I still ,and I'm afraid always will wake up 3-4 times a night, but at least I can go back to sleep if I remembered to take my Lunesta before bed. The problem I have now is ,the mask getting a lot of water in it. I feel dripping when I awake! Thats not cool.......Any advice for me......By the way, Thank you all for your advice. I feel comfort knowing u r there....Emily

If you are using the humidifier, try a lower setting. As the cooler temperatures come so does the rainout. Try a hose cover or a heated hose to warm the air in the hose and mask, avoiding rainout.

Re: Water getting in my mask!
Basically what you're experiencing is rainout, which comes from heated air rich with water entering a colder environment. That water condenses and ends up on your face.
Do a search for 'heated hose' or 'repticable'. The solution many of us have found is to heat our hoses (there's an Australian company that manufactures them, or you can make your own), which pretty much eliminates the problem.

It can be really scary awaking to rainout, especially the first time. I mean, you're in a deep sleep and all of a sudden, what's all this wetness? and noise? It's a real bummer, but good news is as others have commented, this is very treatable. Now, before I'd go out a buy a heated hose, you can try to buy a snuggle hose, which is a wrapping for your hose. One thing I tried that seemed to work, aside from turning down humidity, was to place as much of the hose as I could under my covers, to kind of insulate it a bit. Anyway, don't let this minor setback stop you. Many of us have been there, done that, and are able to control it.
