Which software is best?
Which software is best?
Okay, I guess I'm beat down and accepting that I will not get an APAP, just a CPAP. But I want to at least have good software in the deal. I'm confused reading all the different software. The whole compliance data thing makes me cranky. I don't want to have anyone monitoring my sleep info except for myself. I would like to share it if I like.
What software should I be getting? It looks like more and more machines are doing away with patient info. I want to get the best CPAP I can get, since I will be using it for awhile before I could exchange it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Re: Which software is best?
Which software you need depends on what machine you have. (And if it's a data-capable machine!) A recommendation would be much simpler if you told us what that is.
The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.

Maybe the question I will decide which machine based upon how good the software is? So he/she is looking for a review of the various software products.LinkC wrote:Which software you need depends on what machine you have. (And if it's a data-capable machine!) I think you need to edit the subject to ask which software is best on a fixed pressure machine.
I was going to say Sandman's"SilverLining" -- when I remembered that the previous version gave you far less info on the fixed pressure machine than on the auto -- and I don't know what's going on with those machines' present version.

Re: Which software is best?
In my opinion, that is "ideally" how a machine should be purchased (if all other things are equal). It was true back in the mainframe computer days......you shopped for the best software and then bought the machine that it was written for. That's one reason I ended up with my Respironics machines......the Encore Pro software was the easiest to understand (at that time) and also the "MyEncore" (add-in) program was just being rolled out by the forum member "Derek" (I still use it). It was the predecessor to "Encore Pro Analyzer" by another forum member James Skinner.no_more_headaches wrote:Maybe the question I will decide which machine based upon how good the software is? Re: Which software is best?
I would go with the PR system one.....atleast until Resmed releases there new offering.
Re: Which software is best?
Back when I was deciding which way to go I looked at examples of the Repironics software and the ResMed software. I liked the looks of what the Encore Viewer showed me in regards to the Flow limitations and the Snores. I know it is a small thing but I like their reports better. Only thing I miss is length of apnea that will show on ResMed software and that is not available on Respironics. So I pretty much decided on Respironics based on what the software showed. It was easier for me to understand and I liked it.

Re: Which software is best?
So far, there is NO software for patient use with the PR system one machine.

Re: Which software is best?
Given there is no software and we have no idea what the next version of the software will be like and whether it will break add-ons like the analyzer, I think thats a bit premature.Guest wrote:I would go with the PR system one.....at least until Resmed releases there new offering.
I recently chose the S8Autoset II based upon the lack of software and the fact that my Doctor will not be supporting that form factor anytime soon. She said they have to cut expense by 10%. Yea I could change doctors but there were many other factors that swayed my decision. The new Resmeds may be persuasive but I don't see what is persuasive with the PR in its current state other than a pretty form factor.

Re: Which software is best?
My guess is that PR system one users will be using software by the middle of the month. Call me an optimist if you want.
Re: Which software is best?
Not seeing snores in ResMed's software is not a minor problem IMO, unless you know your snores are controlled by lower pressures. Otherwise snores are important for troubleshooting the APAP. ResScan will only show snores (and much other detailed data) if you add a ResLink module to the machine -- an expensive module.
