morning face marks

Post by jinroh » Mon Sep 14, 2009 9:01 am

I started xPAP ~20 days ago. Struggled with masks. First Respironics ComfortGel, then a Resmed Liberty, then started Respironics FullLife 3 days ago.
I found the Fulllife mask leave marks in the morning. on nise and cheeks. Does that mean make it too tight?
My BiPAP level is 18/14 and I have fatty cheeks. Even that tight, my Leak chart is still wild, dangling from 50 to 74 L/min. I suspect that's one reason my AHI is still around 8.5

If your mask is too tight, it can increase leaking (not to mention discomfort and marks on the face). The mask seal needs to inflate against your face; if it's too tight, it's not seated properly and can't work as intended. Follow the fitting guide (video) for the FullLife on the Respironics website.

With a leak that's out of control, you can't trust the other data to be anywhere near accurate. So first, get the mask fitted properly and the leaks to a minimum.

I've been using the FullLife for about five weeks now and am getting the best therapy I've ever had in almost two years of CPAP use. I still have to use a piece of moleskin on the mask where it covers the bridge of my nose, but that's a small price to pay for good therapy.

Good luck.
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.

Dx 11/07: AHI 107, central apnea, Cheyne Stokes respiration, moderate-severe O2 desats. (Simple OSA would be too easy. ;))
