OT: Other than normal uses for your xPAP machine

Post by drj130 » Fri Sep 11, 2009 4:54 am

As most of you know, I'm in the military and I have the pleasure of spending time in the great and not so great outdoors. Seeing as how I needed a good power source for my balloon machine, they set me up with an easy job this time. They were even nice enough to give me a bed... The only problem with the bed was that there was no mattress on it. Good thing that I was able to buy one of those blow up ones. Then comes the next problem, they sold the blowup mattresses, but they didn't sell the air pumps to pump them up.

So there I was, standing in front of the bed looking at it and an air mattress that was as deflated as my ego, when it hit me. Why not try using my machine to inflate my mattress (no, not my ego. that is way past recovery). So I set the pressure to 20, and away it went. Had a nice firm pumped up air mattress in about 5 minutes.

Maybe I can charge the other soldiers when they ask if I can blowup their beds as well?

Has anyone else found another use for their machine like that?

Now, that is being creative! I'd love to hear other "alternate uses" stories.

I wouldn't know about that object.

I heard second hand of someone using one to help start a fire while camping (under battery power) -- something I definitely wouldn't try with my unit
