How dumb was this?

Post by cpapper » Sun Sep 06, 2009 8:52 am

This is a little embarrassing, however it did made me laugh . We were staying overnight at a friend's home. I went to bed a little earlier than everyone else, as I was tired. Set up my cpap, got in bed, expecting to go to sleep pretty quickly. I could not get to sleep, two hours later, still awake. I started to get a little "stuffed up" feeling and I was beginning to yawn quite a bit, I don't usually yawn with the mask on (full face mask). Put my hand up to see if air was coming out of the vent....nothing. My machine wasn't on. Turned on the light and the blue lights were on, pushed the button and the air came on, put on my mask, got back in bed. Again....was not working. Did this three time...finally said that's it...told my husband, "the hell with it, I'll just sleep without it, something isn't working." You may now know what's next. After lying in bed a few minutes, it dawned on me....everytime I turned the light switch off my machine went off, turned the light on and it came back on as it was plugged into same socket that controlled the switch on the wall.

That sounds like something I would do. And, I would do it more than once.

My daughters boyfriend keeps plugging his cell phone charger into the switch that is controlled by the living room off/on switch for the main light. You would think he would learn after 4 months. Ah well it won't be a problem much longer as she is "putting his shoes outside the door"

That's funny because it just sounds like one of those things that could happen to anyone.

Thank you for that chuckle - it started my day off right! Hope you don't mind, but I'll be sharing it with my friends.

.......and the lesson learned from all that?? make sure that you don't plug something important into a plug controlled by a switch!

We are so used to the magic of electricity. We think it knows what we want it to do.

Maybe the switch turns us off too!

Thanks for sharing. We are so much alike!

When I first moved into my house, I couldn't figure out why my clock radio would occasionally not have power.

Turns out that a switch in a bank of 6 that is downstairs in the kitchen controls that outlet. After 18 years, I still haven't figured out why someone would want that.

I have a friend who moved into a house withy two toilets in the main bathroom........facing each other. They had many good laughs and pondering "WHY" while showing off their new house.....one of the first renovations was to upgrade the bath to a one toilet facility!!!!

Could one of those "toilets" have actually been a bidet?

Or maybe a previous owner replaced a bidet with a toilet, not understanding the difference.

No, neither toilet was a bidet. They were positioned directly face to face.......should a person be sitting on each toilet, knees would have touched or been closed to doing so. Although house was nice, a starter home and unlikely to have had a bidet..what was know was a family of 6 built the house....no explanation given regarding odd bathroom!!!!

All I can think of is Clark W. Griswald in Christmas Vacation plugging in the lights on the house
