Is my Quattro to big?

Post by katiemo » Sat Sep 05, 2009 8:19 am

I woke up this morning with the silicone seal going over the tear ducts and my eyes are really sore and goopy, now I was not getting air in the eyes just the seal. The DME sent me home with a Medium Quattro but the measuring giude on cpap.com states a small is the right size!?! I might add the mask does go further down on my chin than I think it is supposed to, as it goes actually on the tip of my chin not in the crevice.....

I'd suggest taking that up with the DME. See if they'll give you a small instead.

You may want to ask them to try both the small and the X-small. If you have a petite facial structure, you may need the X-small.

In every other FF mask I've tried, I took a large. But in the Quattro I take a medium and am almost down to the small range, so sizing on the Quattro is different than some others. It sounds like yours may indeed be too big. If you want to know with certainty, print the sizing guide and check it yourself.

I took your advice and printed the sizing guide, it says I am at the top end of small, so I may see if I can get a small Tuesday and see if that works. Thanks for the info about the sizing guide!

I had med. for almost a year and when I had a re-titration they tried a small. What a difference. I have to get smaller head gear. Mine is too long and the top stars creep up to the top of my head bringing the mask up to my eyes. Have to wait a couple more months so that it will be covered by ins.

I had the same problem with my first Quattro. The DME measured my face, said I should have a medium, without trying a mask on. (I should have asked to try on a mask). I did use it for 6 months assuming it was ok, but it went below the crevice in my chin and also went to the tip of my chin, and did feel too big. When I went back for a replacement, the RT said I can tell by just looking at you, you wear a size small. My other nasal masks were always a size petite, before I switched to a full face Quattro. I'm more comfortable with the smaller size, it fits the way it is supposed to. If it feels too big, it probably is.

I really appreciate everybody's input, I do in fact think the mask is too big. I have only had the setup since Thursday night, so I can get it exchanged
