Full Mask Comparison
Just needed some advise on the Hybrid Mask HYB500 or Resmed's Mirage Liberty. Both masks look the same. Does anyone have any experience with both masks or can give me a recommendation between the two.
Re: Full Mask Comparison
I will also be watching this thread closely as I have the same question. I want to try one of these masks and am not sure which would be better. I believe that my DME said there were breakage issues with the Mirage, but he may have been saying that because he was pushing the Quattro.
Thanks for the good question, cookieface!

Re: Full Mask Comparison
How about being a little more specific in the thread title? Instead of generic "full face" comparison, make it Liberty vs Hybrid comparison.
That will attract the people knowledgeable about both masks.

Re: Full Mask Comparison
Good point, Kira, I can only speak to the UltraMirageFF vs Quattro, but from what I read here it seems the Hybrid is very popular.

Re: Full Mask Comparison
The Hybrid is the original hybrid-style mask, originally mfg by Innomed now RespCare. The original headgear was apparently lousy and replaced with more robust Velcro straps. It comes with 3 sizes of oral cushions and 3 sizes of pillows which can be adjusted to 2 heights making a good fit pretty easy.
The ResMed Liberty comes in 2 sizes. It has more parts than the Hybrid which means more to wash and maintain. Some here have complained that the clips break and need to be more robust. Some prefer its fit.
If you asking about fit, it's a matter of which more closely matches your facial anatomy. Seems like those who like Respironics OptiLife pillow mask also like ResCare's Hybrid, so maybe there's a similar anatomical design inherent in both masks.
I like the Hybrid and have the Liberty coming to compare as carbonman says...de lure of de mask

Re: Full Mask Comparison
I've tried both masks. The hybrid comes with all sizes for the mouth and nasal pillows. The nasal pillows are also height-adjustable. The Liberty comes with one size mouth part and two sizes of nasal pillow. Nasal pillows are not height-adjustable. I couldn't make the liberty work worth squat. It didn't fit my face and the nasal pillow stalks are so tall, my nose felt like a mule had kicked me in the nose each morning that I tried it. Muse-Inc is right though. You'll either fit the Hybrid or the Liberty, but probably not both.
Since it's less expensive and for the wider array of interchangeable parts, I'd try the Hybrid first.

Thank you all for your comments. To Kiralynx and DoriC especially since I am new to posting. It looks like the Hybrid is a better choice if I had to choose today. My DME or whatever the initials are, are coming out tomorrow. Thanx!

Re: Full Mask Comparison
The Liberty hurt my upper lip and the Hybrid leaked because I never could get a good seal with the pillows I have slotted nares so I don't think pillows are for me as much as I would love to wear this mask. I have had reasonably good luck and numbers with a Quattro small and the Fulllife is in the mail so I'm trying that one next. Good luck, its all just trial and error. Still haven't found a FF mask that is as comfortable as my Flexifit 405 but I got tired of taping my yap shut.

Re: Full Mask Comparison
I use a Swift LT and while it does a good job of controlling my apnea, I still wake up feeling pretty tired. I've woken up in the middle of the night with congestion and have concluded that I need a full face so that I can mouth breathe when my nose clogs up. I got the correct size Liberty and the mouth part seals very well for me. Unfortunately, I cannot get a good seal from the pillows. I've tried all the sizes. The medium and the large slide back and forth across my nose or moisture would build and break the seal. The small did not provide enough coverage.
So, I'll be trying the Hybrid out this weekend. Hopefully, it will work out better than the Liberty.
