Can someone explain to me about the different cpap machines or possibly correct what I have listed below is correct?
CPAP Machine = Constant pressure
APAP Machine = Different pressures for inhaling and exhaling
Bi- level Machine = ??????
Is Bi-Level the same as APAP....??
I'm looking at my RX from the DR. and he has checked:
CPAP machine.... Respironics......... RAMP........Heated Humidifier
and pressure 7cm H20.
What i'm trying to find out and what I've been seeing on here that people should get a APAP machine ( Ex. Remstar Auto w/CFlex ).
Does this RX sound like I need a APAP or just good old CPAP....I would want the remstar auto w/ cflex for the programing ability.
What does this mean????

CPAP = Constant Positive Airway Pressure
BiPAP = Bi-Level Positive Airway Pressure (2 levels: 1 for inhaling and one for exhaling)
Auto-PAP = Automatic Positive Airway Pressure (Levels change according to your needs, within the parameters you set)

Ramblinman,
Obviously, this is just MY opinion.
If they balk at you getting an APAP, you would probably do just fine with a CPAP machine like the one I've got (REMstar Pro 2 CPAP w/CFLEX), considering your prescription setting is quite low. Much of it depends on your insurance provider and what they're willing to do.....if they're willing to reimburse you if you pay for it out-of-pocket, etc. If you get the PRO 2, then you have the ability to monitor your nightly sleep statistics. Try not to let them stick you with anything less than this model.
Good Luck.
