full face sizing

Post by flylow » Thu Aug 20, 2009 5:25 pm

I read the thread on which full face mask you like with great interest. I am now a two year veteran on CPAP most of which has been using a FP432 which initially gave me good leak performance and therapy. The mask has been uncomfortable for a while and the performance has not been so good (the seals seem to only last 3 months) and I am on the hunt for a new full face.

I have been wearing the FP432 in small which is too small for me (bridge to chin dimension). I tried the medium and could not get it to seal. I would say in this mask, I was between a small and a medium. How does this mask compare in size to other full face masks?

From looking at the other thread... it seems that the UMFF is the mask I would like to try. What size should I get with the above information in mind?

No one can tell you what to get, but if a small in one size is too small, why not try a medium in whatever you're trying, or at least ask the dealer whether it's likely that reasoning would work, given the two masks you're talking about?

A good place to start would be ResMed's own sizing templates:

FYI, I posted the sizing guides for the FullLife here:
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.

Dx 11/07: AHI 107, central apnea, Cheyne Stokes respiration, moderate-severe O2 desats. (Simple OSA would be too easy. ;))

PR S1 ASV 950, DreamWear mask, F&P 150 humidifier, O2 @ 2L.

I called resmed and have a 3d template coming my way. They said they no longer make the template but still had some in stock.
