Sniff Test

Post by rogelah » Tue Aug 11, 2009 8:12 am

I searched for the term "sniff test" thinking there must be something here that will give me a first person experience. WOW! I found posts about sniffing pillows and smells and other nose invading odors.

Now I'll ask a more direct question. Has anyone ever had a fluoroscopic examination of the lungs while lying on your back and inhaling air by deep sniffs? It is a test to check the operation of the diaphragm and possible malfunctioning of the phrenic nerve.

Yes except that mine was done while standing up. Nothing to it and it confirmed that damage had been done to the nerve in my diaphragm during heart surgery.

The test seems to be little known outside pulmonary circles. Because of continuing heart problems, I was in a cardiac ward when a series of pulmonary tests were performed and none of the nurses had ever heard of a sniff test.

I took the suggestion and did a Google search on "Sniff Test".
Very interesting. I never knew it was a medical procedure.

I use a sniff test when I clean out my refrigerator.

I am not a Hindu or a god, just Mark from New Jersey. But the CPAP mask makes me look like Ganesha.

Dude! I know what you mean. Doctors get some really righteous smoke and then they flaunt it. It is an abuse of power to not supply medical herbs to people that need it. Dude!
