Hi Fellow CPAP'ers,
Long Time no visit. To me that is a good thing. Means that I have not been having any problems with my CPAP Therapy. The 2 year mark also means that it has been 2 years since I got my equipment and I am now eligible for Insurance to replace any hardware.
I currently have one of the low end ResMed S8 series. No Automatic features, no data logging, etc. Since I am doing well on my therapy, should I even bother with upgrading to get these more advanced features? I have also thought of getting a second unit to have on hand for possible equipment failure. Get one of the small portable units for travel. Or something similar. and one thing I dislike about my current unit is the one piece humidifier tank. It only has a small opening for pouring in the distilled water and is very hard to clean in side. My wife has an older ResMed S7 unit that has a two piece tank that can be opened and makes it very easy to clean inside. So if I do get a newer unit I want an easier to clean system.
Am I crazy and tempting fate, or is it a good idea? Suggestions for a replacement or backup unit?

Re: 2 Year Anniversary of CPAP
Congrats on making it to 2 years! 2 yrs for me on 8/20.
If you like ResMed machines, the 'new' S8 series II machines are even quieter and have a new feature called Easy Breathe that more closely mimics natural breathing. They also have another new feature called EPR (exhalation pressure relief) that allows you to reduce pressure by 1, 2, or 3 cmH2O as you exhale making exhaling against pressure even easier. The S8 Elite II collects efficacy data and could be considered entry level for a full data machine...the S8 Escape II offers the new breathing technologies but it still only collects usage data. I'm after the AutoSet II (autotitrating) myself for its breath-by-breath variable pressure.
PS In October ResMed is coming out with their S9 models...no details yet. Wireless communication of data via AT&Ts network has been suggested on this site.
