My experiences with CpapAuction,Would Love to hear yours

Post by Birddog » Thu Jul 23, 2009 6:26 pm

I have bought on CpapAuction 6 times or so and for the most part been very happy with the purchases i have made. I bought 2 machines for backup and masks and tubing as my wife has OSA also.

One of the machines had a humidifier listed with it and when arrived was missing the water chamber which the seller said didn't come with the humidifier which i disputed and they sent me one along(thanks) and a mask i paid for 3 weeks ago just arrived today after much prodding and threating to call paypal and dispute for item not recieved.

All has worked out ok but was wondering if it is common for sellers to do this stuff? Also the sellers who sell excess inventory and are a business and give deals are really professional and a joy to buy from-no problems just more the private sellers are longer to get things right. I would like to know you're opinions, thanks

P.S. I like everything i have bought from CPAP.com

Read my post jalazone 1981 Thats how I feel, I love shopping there but if you have people that owns a business bidding
on all the stuff what chance do we have of buying stuff that we need for our OSA. Also where do they get all those prescriptions

The few transactions I've had on cpapauction.com have been fine, except for one. I bought a mask that turned out to be missing a part. Interestingly enough, before bidding I'd emailed the seller and made sure everything was included with this mask. I exchanged emails with the seller re the missing part, and she said she would ship the missing part that day. Five days later, I got an automatic shipping notice from USPS saying this seller had shipped me a package. When the package arrived, it did not include the missing mask part, but instead consisted of two children's books! We exchanged more email, and I finally bought the missing part from Cpap.Com. The seller refunded the cost of the mask. Although this transaction was annoying, the seller did make good eventually.

Now I'm seeing someone buying up a lot of CPAP machines. Turns out it's "sleeprightonight," who owns CpapBlowouts.Com. Looks like he's buying up lots of new machines and then selling them at inflated prices at CpapBlowouts. Junie noticed someone else doing the same thing. Read about it here:

This is really annoying, because I use the auction to save money, and I'm sure others do the same. ... And what about unsuspecting customers of CpapBlowouts.Com buying what they think is a new machine with a warranty, when they're getting a new machine from cpapauction ... with presumably no warranty.

Even if cpapauction were to kick these users and ban businesses as buyers, it won't stop them from signing up with a new username....

I agree with you junie,I don't think anyone(business or individual) should buy up machines or masks on cpap just to flip them to make a sizeable profit, but i welcome a business selling their excess inventory at sometimes wholesale or below to liquidate the stock as we can reap the benefits to help with our therapy.I can buy masks on the auction to try that i would not take a chance on paying full price and the wife has tried the mirage micro and thinks she likes it better than the mirage LT thanks to cpapauction. Also Becky at cpapauction is great !

You need a script though. They should force the name on the account to be linked to a valid script. Also maybe some sort of # of devices per year or something... then you can only buy say 2 cpaps a year without talking to them. So you couldn't just stock pile them.

I've been seeing sleeprightonight buying up cpap machines, too. It's obvious, as some one else stated, that he's buying cheap cpap machines/masks at cpapauction.com and selling it on his website at inflated prices. I guess he believes that he's the first person to come up with this business model. He's just another bottom feeder taking advantage of unsuspecting patients. If he was a legitimate business, he would get cpap machines and supplies directly from Respironics, Resmed, etc. Obviously, he does not have that kind of cash or reseller qualifications or credit to do business directly with Respironics and Resmed. Furthermore, it seems that he does not require prescriptions to be faxed in when you purchase masks or cpap machines on his website, which is against FDA regulations I believe. The FDA should be notified.

Regardless, I doubt cpapauction.com will do anything to curb "businesses" from out bidding REAL patients trying to find a bargain for their therapy.
