WHAT IS THE MOST COMFORTABLE TAPE?
WHAT IS THE MOST COMFORTABLE TAPE?
I've been using bandaid strips but they feel moist underneath when I remove them. I'm ready to buy tape. Which is recommended for the most comfortable night's sleep?
Re: WHAT IS THE MOST COMFORTABLE TAPE?
We're all different, so you will need to experiment. I find the blue 2" painters tape for delicate surfaces to be the best for me. Been using it 95% effectively for 10-11 months. I do unfortunately have occasional problems with...er...drooling, which loosens the seal and makes me get up during the night to apply new tape. But the other well-recommended 3M micropore paper tape is so difficult for me to remove the glue from my face, that I simply cannot use it without causing abrasion to my skin. And that is really awful.
DeVilbiss IntelliPap Std Plus with Smartflex; Transcend miniCPAP & Everest2 w/humidifier & batt for travel. UltraMirage FFM; PadACheeks; PaPillow. Using straight CPAP at 13.0/passover humidifier. AHI consistently < 1.5. Began CPAP 9/4/08.

I'm not sure if anyone else has tried this but it's all that was in the house... Black electrical tape... It works great... No issues taking it off, and it has a really good seal... Even if drool happens lol. However I am going to try the painters tape and see how that works out...

Newname......
I've experimented with the medical tape.....and the 2" Blue tape......and the Blue works better for me. I suspect that the adhesive is the same for both....except the Blue masking tape is more gentle during removal.
You can get the 2" Blue Delicate Release #2080 masking tape by 3M at Lowe's.
Here's a couple of "tricks" to the process: use about 9" of tape.....fold each end down 1/2" to make handles.....apply to the mouth area first, then stick down the ends (working toward the ears as you push the tape against your skin).....for more adhesion wear a band of womens' panty-hose-TIGHTS over the tape so as to hold it against your face (you're helping the adhesive)....and finally, remove the tape by pulling parallel to your face (not straight out at 90-degrees....it's uncomfortable that way).

I use the gentle paper tape. It works well and will reseal when I pull it loose from the side to drink from a straw.
