Well we certainly can't have that. What we have now works so well!

And this "independent advisory board" wouldn't be prey to B&M DME supplier, insurance company, medical association, hospital association, etc. lobbyists, right?? And can you imagine a President like BushBaby appointing that "independent advisory board". SNORT!

Neither this administration and congress nor any other is going to come up with a health care proposal that is going to maintain AT LEAST the current level AND cut costs. I have yet to see or read a proposal that makes ANY attempt to cut costs. Politicians are NOT going to improve our health care or our health care costs. The best those "people" can do is reduce the quality of health care and increase its costs. Politicians are politicians and there isn't any hope for any of them.

That headline would be more accurate had it quit after the first five words...

Hobbs: Please tell us how Medicare rates aren't working for YOU? And how having the WHITE HOUSE set those rates would help YOUR situation?

Johnny: Be careful or you'll have Libs PM'ing you to say your comments are "offensive" to them!!

I suggest go go a read up about socialism. Obamma is not quite as far from a socialist as you can get but he doesn't even come close.

It is bizarre how Americans think anyone who suggests providing a service to disadvantaged citizens is some sort of socialist.

My sentiments exactly. The Health Insurers (a misnomer or oxymoron, take your pick), the medical for profit folks, the big DMEs, and all their associated lobbyists have been brainwashing folks for so long that many simply believe that any public insurance/medical/drug offering, as is now being discussed and considered, is socialist. I much prefer a public offering with a pinch (cooking measurement) of socialism to the tons of greed and bottom line profits of our current Insurance Industry, medical for profit (most DMEs), and the big (and outrageously profitable) Drug companies. None of these have any interest in my health only in putting money in their pockets.

I agree totally..... only ones that don't want universal health care are the criminal insurance companies and drug companies. ......and they are truly brainwashing everyone. They certianly don't want any type of universal care. I hope they have the guts to fix it once and for all. It is nuts what poeple are paying now just nuts. My Son lives in Australia and is very happy with universal health care there.

I've been fascinated reading reports from citizens of other countries about their healthcare systems re apnea diagnosis & getting equipment and Paul's about this mom in Canada-- we Americans dun been lied to! Snookered by the moneyed folks running the insurance racket, a license to pick or pockets and then deny coverage or make it so damn complicated we give up and provide another way (like buying supplies online) so they get our $ and we get zip. They tell us these systems don't work, require huge waits before medical care, cost waaaaay more than what we pay -- they lie. I keep asking how other countries manage their healthcare systems and we can't...sad commentary on how susceptible to deception Americans are. I blame 'big biz owned' media for pushing their own interests and ultimately betraying the concept of a free press. We are not stupid; we're ignorant, a fixable condition. Sad that we have folks dedicated to providing medical services in third-world countries now providing these same services in weekend marathons here in the US...sad indeed.

Any system that excludes >47M people is broken; BTW, they've been using 47M for at least 10 yrs, in today's recession with the hugh job losses whadda bet is more like double that number?

As one who has indeed read on socialism (and Marxism) I think that Mr. Obama is, apparently, a collectivist and a re-distributionist. He doesn't appear to like small business or private enterprise, and he has no compunction over government ownership (or oversight) of banks and businesses (think GM here). How is this not socialism?

I sincerely worry about losing my excellent health plan if the Dems get their socialized health plan through the Congress. Having lived for a time in England, I can tell you stories about socialized medicine (such as excessive waiting for important procedures, etc). You don't want it. Rants about DMEs will be the good old days.

I'm neither, and I'd consider "universal health care" the death of this country. You have no idea the depth that this guy and his accomplices will get into your life "for the greater good."

[quoteMy Son lives in Australia and is very happy with universal health care there][/quote]

And I live in Australia too. And I pay about $2500 per year for health insurance, and I pay 1.5% of my income for Medicare. which is the public health system. And none of this covered my CPAP gear.

When I go to the doctor, and pay $70.00 for a consultation, Medicare gives me back $43.00.

Not sure how good our system is, but if he's happy, then the US system must be awful!
