Sp02 Report OxiMetry Report Understanding it.

Post by fatfinger » Fri Jul 17, 2009 7:13 am

Hi Guys,
I bought a Oximeter (CMS50-D Plus) in the hopes of determining if the Cpap was doing its job. I find it easy to use, Instructions poor, not so easy to download as it is not forgiving to mistakes. Over an 8 hour period 33 events, basal 93%, low 90%, 5% under 90%. My guess is SP02 is O.K.

My problem is there is no explanation as to the data I can print. As a added benefit I get a Pulse Event. I had 231 events over night. The formula is "Change in rate by at least 6 bpm for a minimum of 8 seconds". What is the formula measuring and is it important or just part of marketing to sell the device.

Hello & Welcome, fatfinger! Glad you found this forum—SO much useful info and everyone here is so willing to help!

I use a different Oximeter, so I’m not familiar with yours, but maybe someone else here is can help.

I have a CMS-50D + as well.

Which reports have you printed? Some show more information than others - I think the oximetry report (if I remember the name right) is the most appropriate for CPAP users, but others show a lot of detail as well.

I think the pulse events could show some kind of event, like turning over, micro arousals, leg movement, stuff like that that would change your pulse rates, but don't change your SpO2. They could be impacting your quality of sleep, though. I get about 4 or 5 a night.

I don't see a lot of talk here about the pulse events, and I'm no expert.

Thanks for the quick response. I printed the Sp02---OxiMetry Report. It gives the summary report and shows all of the graphs of Sp02 and Pulse Rate at 10 minute intervals. 5 pages in total. This report is a composite of the three other reports available. I could send a pdf file but don't know how to post it.
