re resmed card reader new question
this is a add on question to the "difference in resmed car reader" thead my question is: My question is: I also have the same set up as the poster in that thead my question is what is the res med card call besides a smart card (example: sd micro minnie is the extra memory card in your cell phone) i have a multi reader writer that has sm, cf/md, ms, or sd/mmc will any of these work?
Re: re resmed card reader new question
Your multi reader will probably not be able to read the ResMed smart card because ResMed wants you to buy their card reader, so they customize it to prevent you from being able to use any other card reader.
EDIT: Read the other thread -- learned a lot, there is an other reader that appears to work with a bit of twiddling.

Your reader won't work, but you don't have to buy ResMed's reader either. You can buy the ACS ACR38. To use it you can make an adapter like what is suggested in this post. viewtopic.php?p=287951#287951
I have the ACR38, but I don't worry about the adapter since it is pretty easy to eyeball the contact pins when inserting the smartcard.

Definitely not!Muse-Inc wrote:because ResMed wants you to buy their card reader, so they customize it to prevent you from being able to use any other card reader.
You just need a card reader with the correct sort of interface support.
The simple and most economic way to get that is to buy a generic ACR-38 reader, but other smart card readers with the same interface protcol support should work as well. I found a few a while back that have the same interface support, but they cost a lot more than an ACR-38.
Cheers,
Bill
Re: re resmed card reader new question
From what I gleaned from the ACS (manufacturer of the ResMed and ACR38), any smart card reader that supports the PC/SC (PC Smart Card) standard should work.
I have not tested this.
