Philips Respironics New Mask FitLife a real Full Face mask

Post by Pad A Cheek » Tue Jul 14, 2009 3:14 pm

Hi all,
When I was speaking to a sleep lab today about masks she told me of a new Philips Respironics Mask that is a total face mask.
Here is a link to the fitting guide. What do you all think?

http://fitlife.respironics.com/download ... -14-09.pdf

Just sharing with you all who are looking for a better mask.
The sleep lab did tell me that a patient using this in the hospital had a fogging issue, but she said that would not be an issue if the leaks were under control. I do not know if that would keep it cleared.

Looking for your opinions.

Karen

I think it might be fine for people who like full-face masks.

I think it gives me cold shudders at the thought of wearing one.

I think it's a good thing I never tried to become an astronaut.

If it would integrate with my scuba equipment as well, then I would be all for it.

EDIT: I just went back and looked at that document again.....if that lady has to wear a large (according to the template up to her face), then I will have to wear the 'mega large deluxe, supersize'

Ya...the large is kind of disappointingly small. My DME had just gotten a demo of the large in 2 weeks ago....and when I tried it...the top hit my eyebrows, so not a good fit for me.

Though I thought the seal was interesting.

I am curious about air pressure and eyes....the literature seemed to suggest it does something about it, but I couldn't tell how from my brief try of the mask. Couldn't try it with pressure, plus it probably wouldn't have sealed on my face.

The Dreamer.

JM&J! Is there a TV mounted in there somewhere?

My guess is the contained volume is large enough that normal breathing would not create currents strong enough to affect your eyes.

The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.
Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...

When wearing full face SCUBA, I don't notice any extra pressure around the eyes. Feels like standing outside with a breeze blowing on your face. I am guessing by the cone in the front, this is to direct the flow of air from blowing directly in your eyes.

Nah. Shouldn't be a problem if you keep your eyes closed while you sleep.

One advantage I've read about is that if the Rebellion calls you in the middle of the night, you're ready to attack the Death Star within a moment's notice.
