Provigil, anyone???

Post by SleepyStarfish » Tue Jun 30, 2009 12:35 pm

My doctor started me on Provigil last Wednesday so I have now taken 7 pills total. I cannot tell one thing new or different since I have been taking it. The doctor's office told me it can take a couple of weeks to reach its maximum effects or to show effects. As a pharmacist, I know this. But, as a patient, all I know is, it ain't working.

Any out there had any expericence with Provigil. How about the brand new one, Nuvigil?? The old standby, Dexedrine?

Thanks once again for your help, advice and input!!!

YOWZA! You must be really medicated if Provigil isn't giving you ANY effects. It hyped me up so much, I could only tolerate a half dose every day.

Can you cut back on some of your other meds which are blocking the Provigil? Possibly an anti-depressant?

Maybe you should try another stimulant, if this isn't working. Or try upping your dose. First day I took the whole dose I was a complete meth-head. You should have felt something immediately.

Good luck!
B.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

I am also a pharmacist and use Provigil. I use occasionally when I have a really bad nights sleep. Its effect is felt on the morning I take it, and generally lasts for about 8 -10 hours or so. If I take it for more than several days in a row, the effects tend to diminish over time. I believe this is the normal course for Provigil. If you have not had an effect in several days, then either you need to up the dose if you started on a low dose, or perhaps this is not going to work for you - I have trouble believing the 2 week onset and have not seen that with others. Since the newer med is just a derivative of Provigil, it seems this may be more of a marketing ploy (like some of the anti-depressant spin offs when the copyright was expiring) rather than a really different drug, thought it is supposed to last longer. That may be worse for you if it happens to last for a full day and keep you up.
