Yahoo, I finally received a copy of my sleep study report--faxed and fuzzy but at least finally here! (I've got 10 pages of graphs and a half page of summary figures.) There was no text or recommendation included in what I received which, I would think, would have helped me figure some of this out. However, can someone help me make more sense of these summarized figures--good, bad, or indifferent?
Sleep time 6 hrs, 20 min Oxygen Saturation
Mean Saturation (%) 92
Respiratory Indices Minimum Saturation % 81
pRDI 61.7 Maximum Saturation % 99
pAHI 61.2 Mean of Desaturations % 89
ODI 49.1
Oxygen Desaturation % 4-0 10-20 >20 Total
Pulse rate statistics during sleep Events #s 283 28 0 311
Mean: 70 Minimum 47 Maximum 89(?) % of total 91 9 0 100
% REM of sleep time 27.2 Oxygen Saturation <90 <85 <80 <70
Duration (minutes) 35.4 0.8 0.0 0.0
% of sleep time 9.3 0.2 0.0 0.0
Help to decipher figures?
Re: Help to decipher figures?
I'm no expert but that AHI of 61.2 means that your sleep is being interrupted 61.2 times per hour (on average) or approximately every minute. That qualifies as severe sleep apnea.
Is there any mention of central apneas on the report. It's important to know if your apneas are obstructive (from airway collapses) or central (from your brain not signalling your body to breathe).
Your minimum oxygen of 81% and mean of 89% indicate that your apnea is reducing the amount of oxygen in your blood, which makes your heart work harder to circulate enough oxygen. Normal oxygen saturation is 99 - 100%.
Others may be able to decipher more for you.

Re: Help to decipher figures?
Oh my gosh, I'm sorry to anyone trying to read it--how in the world did the nice clean table I input come out so scrambled? Thank you jdm2857 for even trying to decipher my post and also for a bit clarification. According to records I have OSD.
Re: Help to decipher figures?
The board software reduces multiple spaces to a singles space and screws up the nice tables you type.
However if you click the Code button (above where you type the post) and put the table between the Code tags, the spaces will be left in.
The Code tags are meant for display computer program code, where spacing and indentions count (to humans, not the computer).
