Is the Software worth buying??

Post by Sly » Mon Jun 29, 2009 12:37 pm

Just curious if the card reader and software was worth buying?? Does it really show valuable info that will help?

Thanks,

Yes, the software is priceless to me. Just read my latest Encore report to give you an idea. Or read my very first Encore report when I couldn't figure out why I was still feeling so crappy despite decent enough numbers.

Best money I have ever spent. Enabled me to quickly address pressure issues that were keeping me from getting optimal therapy.

The software is worth the money. I recently purchased the card reader and software for $135. Worth every penny to me to see how I am progressing. The first month on CPAP, the pressure was not right and my apnea got worse, not better. If I had had the software, I could have moved a lot more quickly toward real therapy. I now know what works and what does not.

I vote yes. I was able to see the leaking and that my AHI was progressively increasing. And, now I can see how things are improving or why some morning I'm not feeling that good.

The short answer is YES!! Particularly if you want to be pro-active in your own treatment. You wil be able to track information and take control of your OSA. You can tell if the pressure that has been Rx'd is correct and/or adjust the machine yourself accordingly.

Yes, for the reasons above, and for another.

I know someone who is applying for disability for a debilitating illness. The insurance company tried to blame the illness on her sleep apnea, but she was able to send them a printout showing excellent compliance and data that showed efficient treatment with total AHI at less than 2. Hard to argue against clear evidence like that. The apnea was well treated and so was not the reason for the symptoms of the illness causing the disability. Still waiting on the outcome of the claim.

Good to have that data to show them.

After about 2 weeks on CPAP I discovered via this forum software. I used it to fine-tune the pressure range on my APAP and now have reduced my AHI to less than 2, some weeks less than 1.

After two years on APAP things are pretty stable and I read the card monthly just to get a overview of how things are going. If I wake up feeling not so great I read the data and sometimes can find the reasons, such as snore index or leak.
