What to buy to get ResMed S8 readouts?

Post by Leonbergergirl » Mon Jun 29, 2009 12:23 pm

Okay, i have had it. Cannot get more than 4 day's readout, DME won't do that anyway,
no new machine for another seven years, so our ResMeds need your wise advice:
1 ResScan 3.7 software? I have seen this for sale.
2 A Reader of some kind???
3 A UBS cord to plug in????
4 An old or used otherwise useless PC to install the software? (Our Macintosh won't. The Public Library
won't let us use their PCs for this use. Sneak into friends' houses middle of the night and download
the data for our S8 Vantages, and sneak back out?)

Just can't take the tiredness and depression any more, with no info, and no mask fitting well enough.
So, gotta take things into my own hands. Any and all advice gratefully accepted.

This is the card reader and USB adapter.
The above is needed along with the software which apparently was pulled from the end user market just a week or so ago. ResMed doesn't want the software sold to us for patient use. It is still available in Australia though and several members here have ordered it from Australia (at seemingly a price savings). I believe it can be found on the black market also.

If you use a Mac I guess you will need to sneak into friend's house and use their XP computer or find a cheap used laptop maybe.

You need the ResScan software and either the card reader and a data card or a special cable that will connect the S8 directly to your computer's USB port.

I am in a similar boat and am searching for some help here. I have a Resmed and am also looking for the 3.7 ResScan software and a card reader. I am trying not to break the bank anymore than I had to for the machine. Can anyone help out there and give me a source.
thank you for your assistance. I live in a remote area and getting to a clinic that can download my data is becoming a nightmare.

ResMed has stopped sales of ResScan to end users in the US. Others here have posted that it is available from cpapaustralia.com but you have to order it via phone.
The card reader, however is available and is cheaper at cpap.com.

I ordered mine from cpapaustralia.com ... I did not have to call or email, the order went through fine for me. Came to about $119 in aussie dollars w/ shipping, about $96 US.

I think some may have had to call because credit card companies had a problem with the international charge. Luckily, mine went through without a hitch. I actually received the software much faster than I expected.

Just do a google search for ResScan 3.7 and you'll find the software. The card reader costs $69.00 at CPAP.com, the card another $18.00 - or, you can forget both of those and just get the reader that plugs directly into the back of the S8 and S8 II. I'm ordering the one that plugs directly into the S8 tomorrow from CPAP.com. Here is the link:

Hope that helps!

Stolen? Well that was neither my intent nor purpose.
I was under the impression that since I paid for the subscription the software was legal. Since it is questionable, and I too now have questions about it, I have deleted it. When I searched for it originally most of the sources here in the U.S. said it was no longer for sale here. A search moments ago shows there is a place here in the states that sells it for $189.00 with free delivery - I'll be ordering it sometime next week.

Thank you for bringing it to my attention that 'downloaded' copies are possibly illegal. If you have any further problems with things I post or information I share you are cordially invited to use the private message option to discuss with me. Blasting people in open forums is pure cowardice.

****UPDATE******
If you google search for this software you might see "torrentreactor..." or "usenext...." come up as a source. It turns out the copies available from them are in fact illegal. DO NOT DOWNLOAD copies from them. If you do then you are "stealing" the software as the kind (albeit tactless) person from down under pointed out.

Mr. Bill Bolton,
The post from lfzguud was at least helpful and informative. Yours is simply sarcastic and intentionally slanderous. Did you bother reading the terms of this board before you selected "I agree"??

Thank you for the information lfzguud. I just ordered my reader and software from cpap-supply.com.

It takes a good man to admit a mistake - and even a better one to admit it publicly.

Thank you Stacy for the kind words. Some people are just that way.
A very dear friend of mine, a professional "problem solver" of sorts (that is coincedently on assignment in Australia) put it nicely. He said: "In today's world you need to keep your wits about you when you post on the internet and take care not to intentionally insult people. You just never know who you might be messing with." You'd think somebody like Bill that spends as much time with computers as he does would understand that.
Oh well, c'est la vie. This Bill fellow was right and unfortunately I was wrong. I had no idea in my first posts that the copy I had might be "stolen" or "pirated" or else I wouldn't have shared how to get it here. Thankfully I was able to find a legal copy for a good price so when the software police goon-squad shows up I will at least have a valid legally obtained, fully liscensed copy to show them. Simple enough.

Kudos, ifzguud, for doing the right thing and buying a legal copy of the software.

In defense of Bill Bolten, I went to that torrentreactor site you used and looked at their listing for resscan. Right on that page it says:
Are you going to download resscan 3 7 software?

It can be dangerous and cause a copyright infringement notice, so you might be prosecuted (read our Lawsuits Cases section).

We would recommend you to use a special program TorrentPrivacy to avoid that. It allows you to be anonymous in bittorrent networks.
The vast majority of people who download music, movies and software from peer-to-peer sources know that what they are doing is illegal. I'm sure Bill assumed you did too.
