mask noises

Post by dmfc » Sun Jun 28, 2009 12:12 pm

My husband's cpap mask is making noise and I would like to hear suggestions to stop the noise. He gets a new mask every six months. He says he still has to wait 2 more months for a new one. Sometimes it will make a whistling sound, much like letting air out of a balloon really slowly. It gradually gets louder. The other sound is like, pardon my saying it, but like a person farting really loudly, continuously. Strangely, if I nudge him it will stop immediately, but start again within a minute or two. The noise keeps me awake and I have to go sleep on the sofa if I want any rest. The machine noise does not bother me at all, but all of this excess noise keeps me awake as much as the snoring would. Any ideas as to why this is happening and what he can do?

Welcome to the forum.

What mask is he using? (specific make/model) The answer to that question will help us a lot in determining what the solution is......because there are numerous things that can cause masks to make noises.......too loose, too tight, wrong size, etc., etc.
