If I put my CPAP machine on my nightstand, it will be about 3-4 inches higher than my bed. Will this matter? Thanks! Michelle

It will work but...
Any water or condesation or 'rain' from the humidifier will go down the tube to you. Very rude awakening.

I think the directions say it's supposed to be lower than the bed. You definitely run a much greater risk of getting a mask full of rainout. (Not to mention a greater risk of pulling the machine off the table when you're twisting and turning in bed. Trust me, I speak from experience!!)

Thanks! Guess I could have read the directions. I didn't even think about that! Michelle

Patients are often told not to put the machine higher than the bed surface so that a strong tug on the cpap hose will not send the machine crashing into the heads of those sleeping in the bed.
