First Night on Fought for APAP

Post by lanndi » Fri Jun 12, 2009 5:56 am

So I got my machine home last night

I hooked it up to watch tv and get used to it, and fell asleep in my chair. Then I moved to my bed -- but didn't bother w/ humidifier since it was damp here from a day of hard rain.

I was aware of the mask, and a couple of incidents when I needed to cough or yawn and was surprised that it was difficult. I remember waking up and being aware of it a few times, finally took it off somewhere around 4 am when my nares got sore. But with my nap, I got 6.9 hours on it, and I feel okay so far today. I had AHI of 3.5.

So as my nares toughen up, I think this will get better.

And best of all, my lil Buddy (avatar) was not bothered by the machine!!

Lanoish applied to nares helps seal and also will help with the tenderness associated with the pillows.
Found in WalMart in the "nursing mothers" section.
I forgot to use it last night and my AHI was a bit higher and my leak was worse (despite chin strap and Polygrip) so it does help.

BTW, congrats on the good first night's results and sticking to your guns on your machine. You will be so much happier with it.

Congratulations, Lanndi! Sounds like you are FINALLY off to a good start! Ayr Saline Nasal Gel also works good for healing, toughening up the nostrils and helping a/the seal.

For all the initial hassles you were met with, you've gotten the machine you wanted and are off to a great start with your therapy. Congrats!

With the help of the people on this forum, I have no doubt you'll do very well.
