What favorite activity did you resume post-CPAP?
What favorite activity did you resume post-CPAP?
I was puttering around doing gardening odds and ends this afternoon and got to thinking how last year, I barely had the energy to walk around the yard, much less do gardening, which I've always liked to do. Looking back, I feel as if I hardly got outdoors at all last summer. It made me curious about what other kinds of fun things forum members have been able to resume once they got their sleep apnea treated. What are yours?

For me it has been pretty basic so far after 67 days on CPAP... I am happy to be getting back to any 'normal' activity at this point... period. In hindsight, I was probably spiraling downhill for the past 2 years, ending up as pretty much a recluse in the house when I wasn't at work with depression and anxiety nearly all the time. I am grateful so far for the simple things, getting back to projects around the house, yard maintenance, getting out early on Saturday morning for a nice breakfast with my wife, and even just spending more time talking with my wife without being grumpy and short-tempered. I look forward to bigger and better things!

My wife has got more work out of me in the past month than she has in the past two years. Finished tiling the basement floor, rebuilt porch, stained deck, all sorts of jobs that were neglected.

Driving to work IN THE MORNING without struggling to stay awake. Not stealing away from my office for a catnap. Not having every cold I catch turn into bronchitis or pneumonia.... last week I caught a cold and it was gone in 4 days.

Reading. I used to start to read and the next thing I knew I was waking from a nap.

cooking beyond heating things up, doing my art work, making costumes, being part of society again, being awake after 6pm
Going to an fibre art conference YEAH 4 days of playing with fabric! I wasn't even going to bother going even though it was 2 hours away, couldn't get excited about it. I would have had to share a room!!! no way in hell!

BAKING!!!! I have been freakin living in my kitchen for the last couple of months. I love it!! I started a blog (actually a couple). I'm posting recipes daily as we make things here, have a blog on my general musings, set up a website for my parents bed and breakfast, and am enjoying actually learning how to make money online with all this stuff.
My family is now putting in requests for items to try. Next week I'm going to tackle a key lime pie for the first time.
Prior to cpap I would not have had the brain power to figure all this stuff out. I'm slowly teaching myself HTML now and improving my website knowledge.
There are still days I feel like I've been hit by a truck but most of that is explainable....I can't believe the difference in my life this has made.

Re: What favorite activity did you resume post-CPAP?
To be able to sit in a meeting and not fall asleep was a big thing for me. For the most part I struggled with improper equipment for many years and had maybe 50 % of my days that I felt good. I found this site a couple of months ago, got a new cpap that showed my data and nasal pillows that are so comfortable. Since then I have had the best sleep in many years and all of my activities are a pleasure again, even the Honey do list my wife creates for me.
