Newbie popping in

Post by sleepygma » Tue May 26, 2009 6:26 pm

Just wanted to send out a huge thank you to all who take the the time to respond to questions/messages. Your interest and empathy mean so very much.
I was just diagnosed a couple of weeks ago and have spent hours here reading posts and doing research as I suffered through the split sleep study, and embarked on the world of CPAP.
Thanks to all of you, I was able to ask some intelligent questions, exercise my right to choose a DME provider and get some advice on masks.
Therapy is going well (feel like my quality of sleep is slowly getting better and trips to the bathroom have greatly decreased), just having some challenges finding the right mask (never knew I had a "petite" nose). My favorite so far are the Swift nasal pillows---although several people tried to talk me out of it due to my higher pressure (15).
So-thanks again to all of you. Know that I will be continuing to use your advice/expertise/empathy each time a new problem arises (dents on my face, rainout, cleaning of equipment)
Mary

Sleepygma,

I have a pressure of 17 and started using nasal pillows about 6 months ago and i love them. Over the last 20 years I have probably used 30 different masks and the pillows have produced the fewest leaks which has allowed me to sustain good sleep and awake each day feeling good. You seem to have the right attitude towards your treatment which will go a long way towards your success. Good luck,
