Rethinking my opinion of my DME

WOW! I called today to get copies of my studies and my script and check on my supplies order.

I told them I had the software and whatnot, and the lady asked me if I'd changed any settings. I was honest that I had, and explained my reasoning, and she was quite cool about it. She gave me the requisite ass covering warnings in a very friendly and non-chastising manner, and ultimately she said that even for people who come in to have machines adjusted, cheange accessories, etc.. that her main questions about changes they make for them that her focus isn't the numbers as much as "how do you feel?".

I told her that they forgot to give me my card back last time I was in for my initial change of mask, and told her I bought one online. She was kind of amused by that. I told her if she needed a copy of any reports for compliance for the insurance company I could email her a pdf, and she gave me her email address.

I think I might actually have one of the mythical good ones after all!

Please, everybody......!!!

When discussing a DME good or bad, please include the DME name. I've been tagging posts and DME's are really common, but it doesn't help others much to say I have a good/bad one if we don't have a name.

I would like to be able to tag as DME, Name so a search would be helpful. I can attest personally as Apria was the favored DME by my insurance and after Googling them I decided no way. I went down the list and ended up with another just as bad as they had no reviews either way. This time I knew enough to interview them and got a good one. No, I don't think I'll tell you names.... not much help huh? OK, the first one was SleepMED and I suspect it was their local store manager that made them intolerable. Currently it's SleepQuest and their local people are all great. See how much better names are?!

Hey Provider,

My doctor doesn't know the difference between a CPAP, APAP, and a BiPAP and was alarmed when she read my PSG report because "..the sleep tech didn't write down what machine I should order you." She was however, smart enough to send me for a sleep study.

The sleep doctor/ENT she later sent me to for a nasal septum/sinus consult told me that APAPs were only used in sleep labs.

I've got degrees in both physical therapy and limb prosthetics. I also have a brain and a high IQ. I am not a mushroom and you are out of line.
